Awesome. Glad to see it all together. Also gald that you're still thinking about how best to change the Taurus Lord
The board game out really well. Can't wait to see the rest when you find time to do it. Kudos!

Well the first thing to say is: AT LAST!
I'm really liking the whole look of your army, but I'm not keen on the taurus rider. It looks to me like one of those "they're awesome while you do them, but afterwards they're not that good." conversions.
Otherwise nice army.
Thanks

Nice table, is it 4'x4'?

Yes. Why did you type you should do when you should've been doing it? bad. Very bad, Mr. Xander

So now that I am getting a handle on 2-Part molding, I decided to cast 5 of my hobgoblins. I just finished pouring the second half of the mold so it should be ready to roll by morning. I am also experimenting with a filling technique, and I may even use a syringe. I have been taking pictures, and I will post them in time. Vexxus and I have been getting things rolling recently, and things are shaping up nicely with some decent momentum. In the pipes we have the hobgoblin unit which is nearly finished being painted, and we also have the 2nd CD unit. We also have a small squad of Black Orcs that Vexxus modeled up that are looking fantastic, we are still working on a paint scheme for them. Vexxus is also adding some additions to the second Earthshaker I made, and he is making it his own. It's looking great as well. Our four bolt throwers are nearly done being touched up, and Vexxus has painted the crewman.
Stay tuned for pictures!

Less talk, more pictures. WIP are fine. Tell Vexxus to take pics of yours if you don't! Or The Blessed One shall arrive in Fire and Darkness!

Pics coming. But a certain Faerie army has me splitting up my time.

An update at last!
Since Vexxus was brought on board the project, things have been picking up! Here is what the painted portion of the army looks like so far! We are still having some small issues getting the lighting perfect (as our basement is devoid of light to start with), but the pictures are not that bad!
Slight overhead shot of the completed unit of 20 Hobgoblins!
Different angle, different lighting!
Again, angle and lighting have changed.

The colour scheme of the second unit. These bad boys are resin cast miniatures.
They also stand in front of a piece I created for the Nemesis Crown campaign that symbolizes the alliance we made with the Orcs and Goblins. It was for a HoH competition, but I didn't finish on time. This was painted by Vexxus.
A close up of a painted Bolt Thrower. I bought 4 of these before I even wanted to play Chaos Dwarfs. I got them at a GW Sale, where all blisters on the wall were $4 (I also grabbed some Empire Cannons and Mortars). So these were originally constructed and painted to be crewed by Night Goblins, for our Orc and Goblin army. They have been re-adapted for Hobgoblins!
A shot of the painted army, sans my new Standard Bearer (whose arm fell off!)
More pics!
Vexxus and I would love some comments. Vex painted all the Hobgob crewmen, we split of the hobbo unit, and Vex painted the new Hobbo scheme. The rest you have seen before.
Also worthy of note is the fact that the hobgoblins are now on a magnetic base. A system that is extremely cheap: I use strip magnet on the undersides of the bases ($1 for a metre's worth), then a small amount of sheet metal ($2 for 3-4 units worth), that is meant for roofing or something, cut with metal sheers ($17 for the tool).
Stay tuned for pictures of the casting process I used for the hobgooblins, and for demonstrations of using magnets. More videos to come too, about magnets and casting and such.
Cheers,
-Xander

Thanks guys!!
The hobgoblins took a lot of work to convert each one, but now that I have a mold of them, it's a lot faster!
I can't wait to see your Hobbo rebuttal, Snotling!

Wow, looks great en masse Xander. Damn IP law, i'm sure the sale of those hobbo casts would have earned a pretty penny.
Any chance of a close up of the crewman impaling the Nordlander? Will this be a little theme or is it just a one off?

Plenty of him in Golden Hat #5.

Wow, this looks so cool. The cast gobbos seem to have come out really well. I'd love to see some WIP pictures of these.
The whole army has a lot of firepower now - I mean who would ever want to face an Earthshaker and four bolt throwers!

Xander my man
and Vexxus you too - just love what I see
But I do have some questions:
- Your Taurus, how did you get it from the wood elf steg to a CD Taurus?
- All your ruin baces, those are very great - how did your make these?
- Your Hobgoblins banner, is it from BFSP or is it converted?
Now when talking about Hobbos, how can I make a bare-belly for my Hobbos?
Well thats all my man, keep it the great work
I hope to see some more in a near future
Love your work
Cheers mate

We do need more core. A unit of 25 more warriors is in production, and the BBs are coming along too.

Vex is more of a modeler/painter, so I am going to leave a bunch of stuff, including the paint, with him. I will be taking the completed stuff for gaming, Grish.
06-24-2008, 05:46 PM
So, Mr. Xander, how are the painted ones doing? Vexxus, how be the unpainted ones coming along?

Glad it's the good slow, but it'd be better at that quality and faster

I have one somewhere
It's the pics I need to do now... Nobody realises I have posted a couple of things. I just don;t want to disappoint the community. I give so much advice ande yet my stuff isn't up to everbyody elses scratch (even if it does get the job done).

Well, I didn't take the pics down, but apparently forgot that I'd moved the pictures on the photobucket website
You get some pics up and I'll repost mine. Then, your second set will get some new pics of mine
