Full Version: Death Rocket- Cool or a waste of points?

Tell your thoughts regarding this weapon. It could be argued that the DR is third out of the three war machines available to us.

For me (in order of preference):
1) Does anything more need to be said of the awesomness that is the Earthshaker?
2) 2 for 1 special! While in vogue in 6th edition army blooks like 2-1 bolt thowers are being removed from all armies in 7th. One thing that makes it great and likely to be removed should GW do a redo of the army book.
3) Death Rocket. Plan on having one in my army but I am not see how much use your will get.

Tell your thoughts here.
Not worth the points costs but a great laugh ,fluffy and unpredictable.i love taking it in 2000pts + particularily against horde enemies.
So cool for meRespect to the Hat!
I'm with metro on this one.
you slow the enemy down with the earthshakers and then hit them with the death rockets + a bt cant reliably take down a warmachine/chariot in 1 hit as its not st7
As I've said if the CDs get a revision the 2 for 1 special will be gone from the lineup just as it is happening in all the armies with BTs in 7th.

I think hobbos are more likely to survive than the other greenskins slaves. I still think the most likely support we'll get is a Kislev style booklet, and a couple of regiments of reknown releases.

I concur. This is probably our best bet for a new "book" if at all IMHO.

Metro- Thanks for the update. However I'm willing to bet that in the new High Elves and Dark Elves they will not be 2-1, time will tell.

Not to mention that High elves have better BS scores to boot. I play high elves have for years and in 6th you never took the field without them.
True, fear causing elves? Who the F thought that lame rule up. Oh yeah it was Jake Thornton the author of tehg book. He also thought up the lame "Intrigue @ Court rule.

Phoenix Guard looks to be undergoing a MAJOR revision in this version though.

Us longtime players have often talked about how GW FUBAR(S) every other version of the High Elf Army:

3rd: Kicked major ass
4th: So Vanilla it was actually accused of having no taste.
5th: Kicked major ass
6th: Suffered from what I call the "3rd edition 40k Pysker syndrome"
7th: Jury is still out

* the 3rd edition 40k Pysker Syndrome is a term I coined. In 2nd edition 40K Pyskers were gods and could single handedly rule the battlefield. In 3rd edition 40k psykers never made it off the bench, GW even admitted as much. Something along the lines of "cutting too deep" in one of the White Dwarfs at the time. They so eviscerated the powers of the Pyskers that no one took them. Same thing in 6th edition with the High Elf list. GW butchered it badly and sales plummeted as no one woudl actually take Phoenix Guard, regular spearelf infantry, etc...
If he does he better not be let near the High Elf army book. In fact GW should have him cleaning toilets with his tounge. The "army book" he foisted on us was and absolute disgrace.
Not sure, of course we will know very shortly I'm hooping for Phil Kelly as the writer.

Adam Troke is at the helm of the High Elf book. I wouldn't hold your breath.

Well he can't F it up worse then Jake Thornton; not humanly possible

Well some of us do play other armies as well... Wink
Anytime you want me to kick your army across the board with my pointy ears just let me know, always happy to oblige. Wink

Surely since Wilmark is in your hat arranging a game should be no hastle at all...

LMAO

I escaped with a double, ultra secret spell from the Shadow Lore: Escape Tall Hat Power Dice 7+ to cast.

When cast this spell allows the caster (and only the caster) to escape the vile and loathsome place, otherwise known as Tall Hats scalp/hat/tall/hat/stove pipe. Once free the caster may be placed anywhere of his choosing, except at Kate Beckinsale's house.

Cast once, does not remain in play.

Nope. I now am immune to all spells and psychology rules as I day dream of that hottie known as Kate Beckinsale- even a troll can manage more coherent thoughts then I right now...

Anyways back on topic who actually has a death rocket and what have been your in game results with it?

Gah, Denmark. I'm stuck in the UK jealous that you make half decent larger and have a more sensilble monarchy... Maybe you should declare yourself High Priest of Hashut. In the UK if your house is a place of worship you can get out of certain types of taxes

Monarch? Pfffftt. Monarchies are so old school European. Over here we have.... um....yeah....well....let's just leave it at that.

Come on own up who registered there religion as a Jedi Knight last uk census ,I didShock

I laughed my a@@ off when read about that a couple year back. Brilliant!
Bolt throwers fill the role of big game hunter.. Good for dragons and steam tanks and such that you cant rely on a stone thrower for (though I did land a ES shot on a steamtank a few weeks ago for 3 wounds). Blunderbusses fill the role of rank n file killers for me, so no death rockets.
