I have a personal preference toward hats myself... I've converted about 20 chaos dwarfs so far, and each one has a hat. Also, I found a really fast way to make the hats. Take a relatively thin straw, cut off a small section of it, and then glue it to a buckler from the dwarf thunderer plastic box. Then take the
BFSP dwarfs, and cut off any decoration on the helmets, (gems, candles, whatever's there) and then just glue that down. Its fast, and looks pretty nice. Then you can add some green stuff to the top of the hat to make a spikey top, or whatever you like. I do the same thing with my characters, except I use bigger straws, and different top pieces. I also cover the outside with green stuff and put some kind of design around that That way it still looks fairly good, and uniform at that, while being pretty easy to make.
Hats ftw. But even I must admit that the chances of seeing hats on the new models (if they ever get here) are pretty slim. At least on rank-and-file troops, though it would be very much in style with the babylonian and assyrian theme if at least the Priests and Lords had some sort of stylish helmet. I like cornixts idea of the footsoldiers having masks as well.

Ok, its a crappy picture, but it should work.
I used a webcam, but its the only thing I have...
As I said in my previous post the chances for helms aer good on the ordinary foottoads, but on the Heroes and Lords stylished helmets in the way of Babylonian Kings wouldnt be all bad. Lets face it, the Dawi are the Babylonians and Assyrians of the Warhammer world and GW have made that too clear to just ignore that when (if) they remake them.
- Tallhat
*laughs* You are a very wise man Willmark

Though when I thought about stylish helmets I didnt think of the ones that we have at the moment. But I was thinking Tall helmets with perhaps some runes or somesuch on it. Not hats. Helmets.
- Tallhat
We can be fairly sure that the hats will never come back in the previous incarnation. This was after all one of the reasons the Dawi failed the first time.
- Tallhat
Um, tallhat, the Dawi have never failed as a range, Dawi is the name that the western dwarfs have for themselves. "Chaos" Dwarfs are actually dawi'zhaar which translates as "Dwarfs of the place of fire." Slightly pedantic point I know
I am very much aware of this thank you. But sometimes it is just plain easier to write Dawi than Dawi'zharr since we are still like it or nor in fact Dwarfs albeit Chaos Dwarfs.
- Tallhat
What about them?
- Tallhat
I don't see much change with the hobbos other then the removal of the smurf like hats...
*laughs* I never thought of them as Smurfs. I might have to paint one up as such
- Tallhat
Mongol fits them just fine. The RoR Hobgoblin unit is certainly very Mongolian to look at. Plus the Boss in that unit is called Oglah Khan. More mongolian and they would be riding yaks.
- Tallhat
What about them?

Cant remember.
- Tallhat
Boy you are seriously horrible at quoting
- Tallhat
Easy boys. If you need to tell him do so in a PM. Its not very fair to put out in public and to be 3 against 1. Plus he is fairly new, and is still learning. Trust me. There are some posters out there that are far worse.
- Tallhat
Fair enough... to a point.
But to a point is at least something
- Tallhat
Yes. I have been looking at HoH. You know who I mean Canix.
- Tallhat
As I think Ive stated somewhere else (or was it on HoH?) I have no hopes that the Big Hats will ever return. At least not without a serious revision. Having said that I will never ever abandon my own Bighats. I love them just as much as some of you boys out there love the 3rd edition or Marauder models that I personally find to be Rubbish for the most part (although I must admit that a few of the 3rd edition models are okay). Its all about personal preference in the end.
- Tallhat
No Big Hats returning yes but I still have a whole bunch I'll be using in my army.
At least not in force. I could imagine the Sorcerors and Lords and such to have Elaborate HELMETS (So no hats the size of the Dwarf himself)
That could work and would tie in well with the Mesopotamian/Assyrian theme.
- Tallhat
Really? Could you post the passage?
- Tallhat
I remember those models actually. The Hobgobs were actually quite nice. But Id appreciate if youd look for the book Willmark since I dont have acces to it myself. I am however thinking of buying the 3rd edition Rulebook. How much do they usually go for?
- Tallhat
Not sure. Since I already have at least two I have'nt been looking on vultureBay for them.
I actually have 25-30 of the old style hobgoblin warriors that I've been thinking of selling. I painted them eons ago but the paint could easily be stripped off.
Are you trying to sell them to me?
Sounds like it
- Tallhat
Nah. I dont have much use for them. Thanks for the offer though.
