For a competition I'm doing at the moment.
The rock was sculpted to be obsidian, and the WD will be uplit by lava. The poor dead Chaos Dwarf is slowly sliding in

Holy SHIT!
That is amazing!
Grimstone... I... I just don't know what to say.

Grim.. Now that is just freaking kickass shit right there.. O.O Now I defentlly need to learn how to model more like that.

Awesome sculpting ,

Shame its not the white dwarf slipping under

reward of slaves granted

If you read the post the cd warrior is sliding into lava

if only the dead guy was a gobbo,, I mean, what did we do to him.........
@Minty
Its not very often I do models with a story behind them. This was one I thought I really should, it being the White Dwarf himself.
I have got ideas for a duel between the White Dwarf and a 'Black Dwarf', on a thin bridge over a bit of lava. Depending on how well this one comes out I might have a go.
The hardest part of this model so far was finding a suitable pot to sculpt the shield on. It reads 'Grudge' on the top, and 'White Dwarf' on the inside.
I am Gobsmacked! Lovely work. Cant wait to see this baby painted.

Ive been waiting for a white dwarf conversion for ages! This beast is awesome. I cant wait to see it painted and i cant wait to see this black dwarf if you get around to doing it. I was thinking of doing something similar out of the last white dwarf (not the one on the shield) but no one could give me some ideas and i didnt want to hack it to bits since its limited edition.
You should open your own webshop grimstonefire, selling casts of your models. I would definately buy a few of most of the models you have done.
wow, this is impressing! the GS-works rulez, did you sculpt everything by yourself or did you make some molds?
More like Almighty Lord Grim. That might be a bit to worshipy..
The shield was sculpted ontop of some old container I had. I have tried casting shields before, but because I'm only doing it amataurish I can't cast stuff that's too thin.
If/ when I get a centrifugal casting machine I will definately do a whole range of shields to sell.
Although this will probably rank as one of my favourite 'easy' conversions if I do a decent paint job, its certainly nowhere near my hardest. Only about 20% of the model is sculpted on this one, compared to about 85% on my CD hero/ lord (my avatar). I've done several dwarf sculpts as well that were a lot harder for various reasons.

Not just a whole range of shields, a whole range of chaos dwarfs!! YOU HAVE TOO!!!

Unfortunately he can only do that if they are 100% his own sculpt. Truly awesome Grim, I don't normally approve of the use of limited edition models for conversions but this is a most definate exception. I like it that yo went back to the old WD face from WD 300 rather than the current model held up by Bugman and Gotrex
The intricate detail is what makes it.
You must have an incredibly steady hand.
Much as I wanted to get this painted ASAP for an intersite painting competition (Bugmans and Slayer Brotherhood V Da Warpath), I would have run out of time. I'm moving house next week and will be packing up everything.
After painting the actual entry and my GH#4 Slaves I will finish this.
On tender hooks Grim. You really should give up the day job - proffesional sculpting beckons, is Gary Morely's job still going...?
