Having had it confirmed by Nick Kyme, the upcoming Grudge Lore and Oathbreaker do not contain any useful references to Chaos Dwarfs.  They are to be released in February.

Grudge Lore is a background book about Dwarfs, so I would have expected something in there on CD..?

Nick's answer
"Chaos Dwarfs - Ah, now wouldn't that be nice. Unfortunately, there's nothing on the Chaos Dwarfs in this volume I'm afraid. It's a tricky one, really and the inhabitants of the Skull Land etc are in a bit of flux at the moment. Much like you, I am equally eager to learn more about the dwarf's twisted brethren. We'll all just have to bide our time and be patient at the moment (a quality all dwarfs should have in abundance, of course... "

Whilst I happen to be mentionning books...

Check out Tome of Salvation...

"Details on other gods, ranging from Bloody-Handed Khaine to Handrich, from the gods of the Orcs to the insane patron of the Chaos Dwarfs."
Tbh, if it has nothing on CD in it, then it doesn't sound like a particularly thorough book on Dwarven background anyway.
"hey, you, you dwarfs up there, we want to be put in your lore books or else we will get hobgoblins to spit on you" Is a bit better but still its not going to acomplish anything.

Its a shame that theres nothing in it about chaos dwarfs. It would of sold better if it mentioned thme in some way probably. Im not going to be buying it anymore. The Tome of Salvation looks kind of interesting though...

Actually they did. It is a grave offense to mention the CD in the presence of a Dwarf. They dont want to know about us.

That is irrelevant.  It would only be a valid argument if it was not so much a background book for gamers or wargamers but something written as if it were a book of lore written by the Dwarfs themselves (in other words, censored by the Dwarf loremasters).

If it is simply a generic background book written to be used for WH or WFRP then there is really no excuse for deleting the Chaos Dwarfs from it (or for that matter, Dwarfs who live in the empire or in Norsca).

Post that on Bugman's Brewery and see if we can get some feedback.

My demands were gonna be more like,

-Make Thorgrim Grudgebearer kneel down and kiss his own arse
-Recognize Hashut as god
-3/4 of Dwarven women and children are to be shipped to Zharr Naggrund as slaves
-All Slayers are shipped to Zharr Naggrund as slaves and no longer recognized as true Dwarves
-Dawi Zharr admitted to be the only 'real' Dwarves
-Gotrek Gurnisson must French-kiss Gorduz Backstabber
-Barak Varr, Karak Kadrin, Karaz-a-Karak, and Karak Eight Peaks are given to the Chaos Dwarves
-Every non-Chaos Dwar must shave. Bald. No body or facial hair PERIOD.

That was just....un-called for.

Oh sorry then. I thought it was meant to be written by the Dwarfs.

For all I know you could be right.  I was just assuming it would be a "normal" facts and figures type background book rather than a "how Dwarfs see themselves" type of book.

Are the Gotrek and Felix novels really as bad as everyone says they are?

Nazhur Wrote:
I actually think that they are really doing very little to destroy each other

Nothing whatsoever, I should think.
CD only really wage war for slaves, and regular Dwarfs seem content to pretend that CD don't exist.

Quote from Nick:

'There are two voices in this book, one, the dwarf voice, relates the actual entries given in the various books of grudges; the other, the empire scholar, adds observation and detail to these extracts examining culturally relevant tangents. '

So no excuse not to include the Chaos Dwarfs from the Empire Scholars POV
That's what I was thinking.

There must be survivors from the last SoC battle who attacked a Hellcannon, CD crew/ bodyguard units etc.  So there must be people who saw them at the very least.

It would be plausible that the common manlings would think we're simply Dwarfs who have turned to chaos, or mutants.  So I guess they wouldn't even think we were connected as a race.
@Willmark
I will start a new thread for this

Huh. And here I thought we were incognito..

Hobgoblin Like the sneaky gitz..

Bill-117

I posted this there, but you missed the creation of Black Orcs, their subsequent rebellion, and promotion of hobbos from 'slave' to 'flunky.'

I wouldn't be suprised if the manlings thought of the Chaos Dwarfs as something else. In Palace of the Plague Lord, Zhardrach is first mistaken for a very small human.

Oh, we're featured in that book? *must have it now* ShockShockShock

Bill-117

...awesome...

I want my Chaos Dwarfs to be the sworn enemies of Nurgle just because of that book.

Well, Nurgle/Horned Rat. Same thing. Respect to the Hat!

Bill-117

Didn't Grim copy it onto CDO? In a timeline?
I pestered Nick a bit more on Grudgelore Wink  IMO the decision was not his to exclude the CD.  I get the impression its a blanket policy for anything more than a sentence or two.  Which seems a little odd considering the numerous novels mentionning them.

I hear you on the Chaos Dwarf front, I'm sure we'd all like to know more about them and their background. Alas, it's one of those taboo subjects right now and, as such, they don't get a mention in Grudgelore. There is scope to possibly include a mention of them in future books, but I wouldn't bank on that either.

It's fair to say that Dwarfs will never ever mention Chaos Dwarfs in their books of grudges or even speak of them - they are the dark secret, the most heinous shame they must keep and endure. It didn't feel right for the scholar to speculate on them either as it wasn't directly relevant to the extracts of the books of grudges on which his commentary was based.

There are plenty of other cool revelations in the book, though, many of which have never before been revealed so hopefully that will lessen the blow somewhat.

Interesting though his looking specifically on the shame the Dwarfs face.  Not anger, or despair.  Supports what I thought anyway.

I didn't think that they would exclude them entirely from ever appearing in the books of grudges...  So no matter what we do to them they will never ever write it down in their official books as a grudge to be avenged?  Perhaps they have seperate secret notes?   Or just really good memories?  Or perhaps all the grudges are rolled into one big grudge that doesn't need writing down?

I had a look in Tome of Salvation today.

Even worse than Tome of Corruption.  Basically one small line to say that Hashut's Spheres of Influence covered Arcane Engineers, Chaos, dark magic etc.  Meant to write it down, but its nothing new.  Definately not worth buying just to read that bit
To be honest I was in a hurry and only looked at the Hashut bit.  The WHRP stuff generally is very good from what I've read.
