Full Version: Anyone use the sacred number?

I believe Hashut's sacred number is 4.

So does anyone use this anywhere in their armylists/ armies?

I have done conversions on most of my models that include 8 details (8 sides of shield, maybe something on a banner etc).

But I was thinking today it might be fun to do all my units in multiples of 4 (i.e. 16, 20 or 24, which generally makes it an awkward shape if a character joins them), and the total points cost of the army as a multiple of 4.

On a seperate note, anyone think of why 4 would be relevant to Hashut (aside from the fact that he was probably done as an afterthought)?

4 Legs of the bull
4 corners of the ziggurat
4 gates to Zharr Naggrund
In numerology I think 4 represents the earth, and the 4th dimension (time), both of which are perhaps more relevant to us than the other chaos gods (given our mining and lifespans)?
4ft tall hats! Respect to the Hat!

things like that.

D'dos Croizii

4 Horns on their symbol (Two out the side, and two down the bottom)

Hashut has four horns. Hashut!

I think Astragoth has four concentric sections to his bighat.

There are four Bull Centaurs left for official GW purchase.

There are four models in Oglah Khan's Wolfboyz.

Black Orcs are four feet taller than us. :/

Bill-117

Four Hellcannon horns.

Four... er...

Er...

Bill-117

Just use big bases on two. The standard bearer and champion - like little dioramas.
hmmm. I dont think i use four of anything apart from the Bolt Throwers. 25 Warriors (5x5), 2 units of 15 blunderbuss (5x3), 10 bull centaurs(5x2). Nope, no fours that i can think of.

Perhaps a house rule, if unit strength reaches a multiple of four models, they get a combat boost.
I think its this:

Hashut = 4
Slaanesh = 6
Nurgle = 7
Khorne = 8
Tzeentch = 9
Malal = 10?
Horned Rat = 13

Bill-117

I think the Horned Rat is just a more 'minor' Nurgle spirit. Like a daemon prince about the status of Be'lakor.

Bill-117

Hashut is just the coolest one. xP Nurgle and the Horned Rat EXIST... else I would have no mortal enemies...

AAAAAAAAAAAH LAVA MONSTER

*runs and hides where it would never look - an active volcano scrawled with sigils of the lava monster and thousands of evil minions*

In retrospect, this might not have been the best hiding spot.

Ah crap. *shredded*
Grim, do you happen to have the Text or page number that tells us this stuff? Happy

Bill-117

...wow... Did Grim even post on this page? XD

Mostly right.  Malal's is 11 though rather than 10

I didn't realise Hashut had a sacred number.
I assume it's four because Hashut is a quadraped?

From what I can tell the old sacred numbers are purely arbitrary

That's what I always thought too.  It just seemed a bit of a coincidence that a quadruped would happen to have the sacred number of 4.

Yes, it's hard to see any real point to them, tbh.

Whats the point to sacred numbers then? I dont really understand the point of them.

There really isn't one, they're just kind of a gimmick.
A lot of hardcore fluff bunnies like to field units in multiples of their God's number.
I can't be bothered, mostly because it means making up special movement trays.
