Mine will definitely get hammer and shield, too. And a huge hammer it will be!

I'm not sure if I'll give him horns, though. The Taurus has big ones already, and I don't want the rider to compete with them..
No, its not far behind GW standard - its well ahead!! IF I had a choice of minis, some of GWs latest offerings or Ishkurs, theres no question in my mind
Thanks AGPO, well done! I'll send the money to your account as agreed.
@clam: I have just started work on the saddle/throne thingie. I planned to have some chains, definitely. Still not sure about the armour, but it would certainly look cool. The rider is currently at risk of turning out too unimpressive, so still a lot of work to be done here!
Oi, I think it's time for an update! The further sculpting has taken a lot longer than expected, but I am about to start painting soon. First, the Taurus:
Added banner poles, a saddle / seat, some armour plates to which the former is fixed and some greaves for the front legs. I don't feel more armour is needed really. I am not happy with the flames on top of the banner poles yet...
Next, the rider:
The face will be a golden or iron mask which includes the brows and the moustache. I am not sure yet if I should give him a black beard and glowing eyes, or regular eyes and a red beard. The idea behind the red beard would be that his name "Bharzakk Firebeard" comes from the colour. The flames on the hammer looked like total crap, so I removed them after taking the picture and having seen them in full zoom.

The bull looks awesome, good choice for the throne!

I think the golden mask and red beard is a brilliant idea!! would the beard be bright red though or that gorey red you use on your warriors?
Can we get a shot of his right side? looks like one hell of a shoulder piece!!

Sure, here is some more WIP photos of the rider.

Not sure about the beard colour yet. Basically I'd like to try a red / white combination, similar to the crazed Rainald character from Kingdom of Heaven.
Yes it is indeed! Attaching that thing is the most fiddly part, but making the rope is as simple as hardly anything else.

You are totally right. Will do that!
The mustache is from a regular Dwarf warrior (not the current version, but the last edition one). Just cut away the feeble nose, the face and the beard and replaced it with something proper.
I came up with the rope idea when I thought how he'd use his hammer. This way he could now hurl it down at someone and then pull it back up. Otherwise the bull does all the carnage and the rider is reduced to watching the action - clearly not befitting a Chaos Dwarf lord!
He sits on the throne, but I agree that the dwarf miniatures don't have a lot of knee, so it might look like he is reclining.
were did you get the mushstach and his eyebrows
oh and i love it could you try to give a shot with him on the bull when everythings all done before the painting
Can do Sir!
Current status:

The lava is apsolutley fantastic, it actually looks as if its oozing aross the base, how did you do it?
Lava is quite simple really, its all about the reflected glow on the rocks around it. This time I used a little bit of epoxy glue to "sculpt" little swirls and and make the lava flow a bit more interesting.
I think i see a posible golden demon for you mr cinderhat!
alas that's not possible as GW prohibits entries where LOTR and GW parts are mixed, for copyright reasons I think. But I was aware of that right from the beginning... the Balrog wings still are the best out there, so I didn't bother.
@AGPO: we could of course also show a bit of imagination and say that the weapon will return magically to its master, but we are more of the practical kind I guess. ^^
I have to wait with further painting as I ran out of Chaos Black spray after coating half of the Taurus - can you believe it?!
Nah, no further changes planned for the lord. He is really armoured enough now. He won't have his buttocks fried by the Taurus' hot skin either... it a kind of magic!
The Taurus will probably be either black or a very dark red, with a red glow coming from the nostrils, eyes and cracks in the skin. Maybe I'll have a little reflection of the Lava on the belly and feet, but I'm not sure if it will look any good.
Everything is basecoated now. I will definitely have it finished within the week. ^^
Wow thats a buildup of expectations... *biteshisfingernailsnow*
Oi, I'm so glad you like it! And quite honoured by your special newsflash, too Xander.
Just to make it clear again, the Lammasu is not mine, it was just posted in my gallery. So don't give me credit for that one! hehe. The rider of my Taurus has a golden mask allright - I tried an iron one first, but then again everything else on that miniature is just rusty iron so it looked a bit unspectacular.
A "golden nose" is a nice idea for a prothesis of a battle-hardened veteran, though. Maybe I'll try this out on one of my champions! ^^
@gIL^ can't - it's not allowed to enter conversions that include LoTR parts.
@Xander: let me see..
- playable: 1006 points
- fully painted: 1210 (443 of which is the Taurus, but that won't count until I got 2k)
- built but unpainted: 299 (half the wolf riders, one unit of warriors)
- yet to build: another bolt thrower, a unit of BLorcs and the scaries conversion thing of all:
Bull Centaurs!
Bronze Army, yay!!
Gee guys it really means a lot to me that you like it... also gives me the ever needed motivation to go on with building the Army! ^^
ROFL
I shall already be content if you follow the sacred path of the 'Big Hat', my young apostle.
Yes I think as soon as the last 4 wolf riders have been finished. The unit looks a bit.. incomplete still.
Aye.. it's a red beard that has grown whiteish with age. It might not have really turned out the way I planned it, but it's still a lot better visually than a black beard of a black armoured Lord on black Taurus.
@bighatsandsmallboots. Take a look at the pictures
here. It's pretty self-explanatory. I also described these thing in the first few posts of this thread. ^^
@catbarf: I cut off quite a few Gnoblar noses, from either the regiment sprues or the "accessory" gnoblars from the Ogre Bulls / Ironguts regiments. I really can't tell anymore which ones exactly.
@Arlon: not because the colours hurt your eyes, I hope?

@catbarf: I cut them off and stuck them onto the dwarf faces that I used as basis for the CD warrior torso sculpt.
