And as an added bonus the shell makes a great punch bowl.
ew eating rodents is disgusting.

the nicest thing i ever ate was shark steak. the proper red meat from it. absolutely gorgeous, id recommend it to anyone.
Agreed, I'm not sure I approve of shark fishing.  Particularly if we're dealing with shark fin soup - I suppose it's not as bad if we're eating the whole shark instead of throwing it back into the ocean to die slowly...  Someone should just go and start farming sharks, if their steaks taste as good as torn says.

Re: turtles.  I admit that I was somewhat alarmed by Kera's picture.  Basically I think turtles are far too adorable to eat.  Like kittens.  (haha Kera eating turtles is just like eating kittens you monster Wink )  Then again, I do like being at the top of the food chain - it's good to be able to eat anything we want!

......Sustainably!
never had sharks fin soup before, i cant imagine why they would just cut the fins off and not eat the rest. i dont endorse that kind of cruelty at all. i think the ones i have had have been farmed especially for eating, rather than just going out into the wild.

TMHT? dancehat, where do you live? In Canada it's TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

In the UK, it was (originally) Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, as the TV watchdogs viewed the word 'Ninja' as being too violent for the british youth.  The latest incarnation of the turtles though has stuck with TMNT, as they realised that the british youth is normally more violent than the british adult in any case!!

any way, back on (off?) topic....
When I was in Kenya, I ate pretty much everything that was too slow (or stupid?) to get away from the natives - Zebra, Ostrich, Crocodile, Buffalo, gazelle etc.  In Nairobe, They had this awesome BBQ restaurant called carnivores, where they would just bring you meat until you put up your white flag.  The waiter told you what meat it was as he dropped it on your plate - It was like turning up to a zoo with a knife and fork!

I'd condone the eating of shark fin soup if the rest of the shark were to be utilised. As somebody said, they take the fin and that's it. Anyway, I'vve never eaten anything as exotic as that, but I have eaten larger amounts. I'll put it this way. A carvery platter and a half and I still wanted more dessert. Not an exaggeration in the slightest.

Anyway, kera, if you were to invite me for turtle chops and a nice helmet-gift afterwards, I'd be delighted even if the others wouldn't, he he he.
Very chaos dwarfy Kera.Cheers!

Fishing shark is an awful waste.Mad
no pork?!?!?!? pig the is the best animal for eating ever!

how do you make turtle pancakes? that sounds a bit difficult lol
I ate dog in South Korea and it was foul, as was the food we ate there in general. I am reliably informed by my Master that the food in the DPRK (thats the North btw) is much worse, and that's bearing in mind they had all the works laid on as foreign guests.
I wonder why it's called a pancake turtle....

Pigs can't eat ANYTHING. They can't digest human hair Wink
Pig/pork is delicious and as long a you rear them right they won't be filled with all the stuff you guys insist they're filled with. You guys have obviously not tasted the great cured pork meats of Europe or speciality puddings etc. In Ireland we have an old saying which is: 'The only part of a pig you can't use is it's scream'. Every part of the pig is used, from the trotters to heads for terrines.

Also, pigs being regarded as 'dumb' is a popular misconception. They are intelligent mammals that use mud to protect their pink skin from the sun's rays.
On the topic of killing their young, many animals do this and when in captivity, sometimes things go wrong. They don't actively seek out their young and kill them, that's just silly.

With regards to hunting/eating other animals I have no problem with it as long as it's done in a sustainable manner.

Over here (even though I just live in the suburbs) we fish as often as possible, hunt vermin (rabbit and grey squirrel) and forage for shrooms, snails and fruits. We usually use hawks or dogs to hunt the vermin. Whereas with the fishing it's just simple line fishing, usually catching mackerel.
that turtle is crazy, i bet it gets tired of being flipped all the time! natural discus anyone?

to be honest, the fact that pigs live in crap makes pretty much no difference, as its their insides i eat. they say you are what you eat, well a big fat dirty pig is better than the battery farm chickens everywhere sells. i honestly wont go near a kfc anymore, you can tell by how floppy and rubbery the meat is that that chicken had no exercise at all.

and dont most wild carnivores eat their young? guinea pigs and hamsters do :p
My nanna owns a pork farm so I can tell you all some

common pig missconceptions:
they kill there own young - they don't, there one of the mnost protective mammmals, and only kill there young when there in dnager
they can eat anything - yes, but so can almost every animal except for humans. They don't do this unless there is nothing else.
they live in mud - ummmmm, so does everything in the wild, and humans naturaly but don't because we have taste now. It is important from them, as it protects them from sunburn and many air based skin desieses, seem a benefit yet?
The fat is not that bad - unless the pig was either desied or deadly overweight at the time, hence battery pigs
here's another thing, add in three diffenent attomes to your molocules, take away a carbon and kera, guess what a human would be then

a pigTongue humans and pigs are very closely related, expept for our mental abilaties and our outer apperance, pigs and humans work the sameTongue

see, pig good, dog bad. I like having a pet pigHappy
yeah, true, but then again thats what everyone says about animals

Why would you make animals that glow in the dark? That's just weird.
hehe, I have a backstop of random immagesHappy

PS: THats not my pig, mines a pigmy potbelly
well, since the pig is only half a foot long, and only one year old, I'd say me right nowHappy, it'll grow to about 1.5 feet, and then it'kll be a contest (a full potbelly grows to about 3-4' so pigmys aren't realy that small)

Perhaps they want to cut down on their electricity bill?

I actually think they're kind of neat.  A glowing pig would make a pretty cool pet.  Sort of like a lava lamp, but noisier.

Maybe if it had a switch or something. It's still weird though.
