me and my friends have been talking about a warhammer movie and to be honest i think they can make one dosen't have to be a movie it could be a T.V show example such as the storm of chaos or something i just think if they can make games they can go to the big screen Big Grin

Then there's the problems of what to film, what races are being involved, how to bring in the relevent background without half an hour of narrative info.

I think we can definitively answer this by saying if something like this were made, it should really star Chaos Dwarfs of course.  Really, the remainder of the races are pretty much irrelevant.  Respect to the Hat!

but if is relesed then it would get more people in to the hobby and people will love it hopefully also thay are world wide
A cgi would be pretty cool and I imagine alot cheaper to pump out, I dissagree with only gamers going to watch, I know Soooo many people that went to see lotr and then evan went out and bought the dvds and still watch them but will not touch warhammer or any other like game with a barge pole.. just because your into "Fantasy" does not mean your a gamer.
This is probably where GW went wrong expecting all those fanatical people who loved the movie to play a game when all they like doing is watching flicks.
So sad...
Basically, the only way a GW movie gets made is an investor comes along and says, here is the money to make it gw, work with a company and make it......that way GW would retain their rights, and the film could be made by studio x.

They would probably never license the ip for a film that ANYONE else had control over unless the money was just too idiotic to mention (more than 8 figs.....)

CGI films are more expensive than normal ones. At least, if they are to look realistic (wsuch as CGI used in the Star Wars films)... Thusly, I doubt it'd be CGI if they're worried about losing money.

yes they will lose money but think of the profit, my local GW is packed every week and would love to see a film *sigh* that's the problem GW don't like making risk's Sad

That movie will be so awesome.
Well there ya go I thought cgi would be cheaper than actors for sure, what a strange world we live in.
I still cant see how they could lose money on a movie though as it is open to a much larger market rather than being restricted to gamers, LOTR movies did not lose money (as far as I know) and stories of the Warhammer world rival the story of a little ring easily! Hey we had Nagash and Sigmar going at it toe to toe! The father of Undead V's The Man God! Much better than tossing a ring into a volcano!
or a deamon againts a man god and lot of other story's which could be used, they can even create a new story in the warhammer world
stupid G.W any way they will lose money by making the film but will gain money selling the film but it will give the table top game a better understanding people could see how there herose act in battle how they speak and see how mad the wh world is
APGO has a point but people think WH is like DD with knight's and dragon's but it's not it has history, map's and so much blood and gore it'll make a horrer flim look like a kid's show
and the gw fans are mostly teens so it would be 18 or R so no one would watch it

(Personal note, horror films aren't meant to be about gore. that's for thrillers...)

i thought it was vice versar

to make a suggestion i think horus heresy or the storm of chaos would be the best one's but it's ture that GW will never listen 'cos they think they've got enough customers so why'd they need more TO GET MORE SALES  and maybe lower there prices[/quote]

Warhammer is a hobby with a dedicated following but a massive stigma attached by the general public. It is seen (rightly or wrongly) as the preserve of kids, unwashed trenchcoat wearers and men who really need to grow up a bit.

Good point on the lotr, but with this part I would have to dissagree on personal experience as anyone that I know that is not into gaming has no idea what Warhammer is, I have lost count the ammount of times I have had to sit and explain to people what it is.

Hammerhand also has a rather strong point about the merch that I completely overlooked, but then I looked about my room and noticed some stuff that I have that is not gaming stuff but still warhammer.. e.g. A inflatable hammer from the 25th anniversary, posters and a gotrek bust... so in a way GW has already done some limited merch things and I know there are other examples out there, I know this might not mean too much but optimistically IF THEY (I agree unlikely) wanted to, they could do some sort of merch as it seems they have dabbled in it already just based on the games.

Cornixt, very interesting and very true, they do make video games and they do not make them themselves! hmmmm

And last but not least if there was a movie or seires of, I would love to see the Slayer series, which they already have books for which are awesome in my opinion.
Another good one with books written already would be the Von Carstien story! Almost evryone loves a good vampire story!
