Okay, I've not played this since I was a wee small boy (about 6 actually) with my cousin's models and the first edition of the game.
So anyway, i was wondering
a) Where can I get the rules
b) How many models would I want
c) Apart from the main rules, are there any supplements I would need?
Thanks Wilmark, this should do me fine
You are best off getting the main box, then you get the board, dice, and templates. You'll also get a couple of teams to play about with to learn the rules before you pick a proper team (with decent models)
Don't know if they are killing them off. GW is in the midst of a major reorg from top to bottom. I doubt they will get rid of these but they won't be getting anything new anytime soon. Basically they have fix a lot of other stuff first.
Blood bowl is great for minimal investment. The fans are so involved that I doubt it would ever go completely. So many other manufacturers make models for it, and you can often convert an entire team from a single box of plastic GW models. I don't think that the latest rules are even available as anything other than a pdf at the moment, and they have been playtested to death so they are very balanced.
Well I have the pdf rules and I've come up with a couple of teams. My plan is to convert my teams and as strictly speaking you don't need the scatter templates that leaves me needing only the field, block dice, dugouts and range ruler. Now I reckon I can make me a couple of dugouts, and if I join the NAF I get the block dice for £5 (or alternatively if someone tells me which result is on two faces I can simply make a table and use a normal D6). I'm not really so keen to pay £50 for the pitch and range ruler, especially since I intend to convert my own pitch/pitches for my teams.
So my questions are as follows:
1. How big are the squares on a bloodbowl pitch and what are the dimensions of the pitch (including of end zones, line of scrimmage etc.)
2. What are the dimensions of the range ruler and the range for each type of pass
3. Is it worth joining the NAF if I'm just starting out and is there a free bloodbowl forum out there?
4. Does anyone have a pitch and/or range ruler going cheap?
Thanks in advance for your help guys
Great to see the renewed interest in BB around here. It looks like we might get 8 players minimum where I live.
I created a nice BB pitch and template thing a while back. I'll see if I can find it in an old PC backup, seems my laptop died today

Thanks for the advice guys. I started converting my first team last night. I've converted six hobgoblins from the old night goblins. My four chaos dwarf blockers are going to be complete sculpts, but I'm not sure what to do for the two bull centaurs and the minotour I need. Pics to follow soon
Here is the spreadsheet with the pitch and templates (I think, I haven't been able to double check since I can't open the file)

Thanks Cornixt. I can't print the pitch but it'll be useful for reference purposes. The rest is all fantastic
Heresy minis have a great minotaur perfect for BB...

Lol that'd do for Wilmark!
I'm gonna be charting my progress in my new Blood Bowl Blog (BBB for short). at the moment I've got some pretty cool ideas for players and a pitch. Now I've got the passing reference chart off the specialist games sight I don't actually need the boxed game at all - I can get on with converting my players and playing games
To be fair the force would be a pretty unfair advantage in any sport
For Jedi read backs. For backs read whingy girly haircuts. For whingy girly haircuts read Glouster
I dont think its British English!
I dont think its British English!
Its rugby English. In a rugby team there are 15 players - 8 forwards and 7 backs. The forwards do all the hard work while the backs run around trying to look pretty and take all the glory. Some backs seem to put more effort into looking pretty than playing rugby and these are known as Haircuts. Glouster Rugby are known not only for the fact that one or two of their backs have had more haircuts this season than they have scored tries this season, but for the fact they and their fans whinge like girls.
