Hello fellow chaos dwarf lovers, I am new to this board although I have been visiting this lovely forum quite often as a guest. I finally decided to start a -minimum- converted CD army, since GW seems that will never revise the book or the minis of the CD's Angry .

I haven't made my mind on a final list so currently I am just painting/converting some standard units and play testing whenever I can with various lists.  Anyway, enough talking...

My chaos dwarf sorcerer (BFSP crewman)

My Death Rocket (BFSP canon, dwarves converted from various Chaos marauders, warriors and 6th ed dwarves pieces)
Very nice conversions. I like all of this stuff. And you also have a very nice paint job for these guys. Keep up the good work and welcome.
Very nice so far. Is that a lego rocket i see in the cannon?
cool death rocket.
Great start and welcome to the forum. You also need to make them look more evil...

One question thou: Where are the beards and the death rocket crewmen?

Yeap, there are indeed no beards... As I said I am planing to make a decent looking army with minimum conversions as my conversion skills are really bad. Especially when it comes to green stuff Angry
The rocket (@al-hashut) is a piece of pen with some plasticard pieces added to make the "flaps".

Take a look at Xander's tutorial on converting the BfSP dwarfs.  He does a great job with showing how to do some work with green stuff.  I'm like you, where I do little converting and my skills are nothing worth mentioning, but I have to say I think I can almost do the stuff Xander shows how to do and I think the results will look almost passable even with my mediocre skill.

That is genius.  I didn't see it until you mentioned it, but it looks great!  Nice conversion idea there!  They all are a really good start!  Nice work! Cheers!

what CDs without beards? blasphemy <EDITED thanks to Sojourn Wink  indeed give them a try its not to hard and would help reinforce they are chai dwarfs rather then short humans? Happy
The colours! Amazing! I LOVE IT!
@ Willmark: blasphemy. you were close Wink

Toro, the sorcerer looks great though. very nice paint job! but try to get some beards on them! it really isn't as hard as you think and the tutorial should really help you Happy
The BfSP popgun conversion is very similiar to what I'm planning to do. Either that or an earthshaker conversion.

Hmf! The left-crewman from the death rocket has the mask I'm missing (dissapeared magically from my desk), and I've searched for it nearly an hour by now!
i think the death rocket looks ace, as does the dwarf with the cannon ball / power stone.

on first glance, i wasnt too sure about your choice of colours (im a bit of a sheep when it comes to colour schemes, i tend to follow the norm, so my CD's are red black silver & gold)

but looking again at them, i kinda like it.

and with regard to the beards, whilst I agree that CD should have big curly beards that cover 30% of the model, its your army at the end of the day, and if you dont see them with beards, whether due to greenstuff confidence levels or just plain personal preference, then dont do it.

personally, id never done anything more than filling gaps with green stuff, even back when i used to work for GW. but i gave xander's video a try and it really is easier than it looks (though i always seem to get finger prints in my putty... woops!).

so maybe it would be worth giving it a go, and if your still not convinced, then you havent lost anything by trying (save a few replacable miniatures at most), plus you can say that you gave it a go and didnt like the result, to everyone who says "why no beards?".

either way, im 100% convinced that your army will look great!

i really should finish the unit i started actually, reading all these army blogs makes me want to show the figures i have done so far!
i like the death rockets and the crew!!  green stuff is easy and fun!!!
i'm loving your bases and the death rocket conversion (that rocket looks awsome)

Though also not too much a fan of the colour selection, it just seems soo bright.
Lovely work!  Can't wait for some more pics! Big Grin
I've always thought of an Earthshaker as a large Mortar. Your larger cannon look is good, but I can't see it as an Earthshaker. At any rate, nice progress on your army thus far.
Very nice earthshaker. I personally imagine them being Hellcannon sized but thats just me. The warriors are very nicely painted. My only thing is that some of them don't have beards. But if you don't want them to then thats ok.
Wow great colorsI  like the baces , Can't wait to see the earth shaker painted
The earthshaker looks great, I can safely say that if you can do thay, you have ALL the skill needed to do beards like the ones in Xander's tutorial. The crewman with the great weapon is one of the best conversions I've seen in ages - simple but very effective, which to me is the essence of what a conversion should be. If its an issue of taste with the beards then thats up to you, if its patience or confidence then they really are dead quick and easy. Before I watched Xander's videos a year ago I couldn't sculpt a thing, now I've just finished my first scratch sculpt model
nice earthshaker, it looks realy cool and for the beards, its your army so just do what you like, it gives your army something special.
I agree with AGPO, Beards would push this army over the top in terms of completeness.
