Real easy as it comes down to one thing: which will get you the most chicks! Happy

In all seriousness I only buy japanesee cars now, specfically Honda. Great gas mileage and you can't kill the engines even if you try. They aren't cheap (cars never are) but to me, Hondas are worth it.
I just bought a Pontiac G5 (as Xander knows) but basically it was a toss up between the G5, Mazda3, and the Ford Focus.... the G5 was just better for me.

I was on a tight budget, so basically, whoever could get the monthly payments the lowest Happy while keeping nice safety features, good looking, and the best packages for my money.

and Willmark! don't say such things! :O
this was my baby up until 2 days ago when I sold it Angry

it's a Datsun, but now it would be a Nissan. It lasted a looooooooong time (it's a 1981, older than me!) it ran fairly well, and I totally agree about imports being superior to domestic, but they're also pricier. I really liked the Mazda3, but the dealer couldn't get the price down to my (very) restricted budget... man, getting older sucks.

I'm leasing mine as I imagine in 4 years there are many aspects to consider:
1. hybrid cars, will they become universally adopted and therefore a more viable option
2. will I need a more family oriented car? (or at least will I need to create the illusion that I"m considering a family)
3. since my new car is domestic, will it last past 4 years?

I know many people are big advocates for leasing, for financial reasons, but I was against it. I always thought I'd want the equity of a car, but cars have practically zero trade in value after 5 years anyways... so that became a moot point for me.
here is a picture like my toyota matix . it  a great car i love my matix it gets 35 miles freeway and 28 city  my a 03 and i have 90 k on it run great   no problems
Well safety is a big issue for me as i have a young son and i find you cant go wrong with a 3 series BMW ask my wife as she wrote one off the other week and it saved her life, dont worry me and boy at home when happend so if you
have kids planned for the future or not its a safe reliable car Evil idea
I second the Toyota recommendation. I own a 2001 Celica and its been great - best car I've had and very low maintenance. My colleague has had a Toyota Paseo for over 15 years and still swears by it. If you want value, its in the asian import market.

Buying North American means buying another car in a few years, IMHO. I've owned 3 NA cars and ended up paying through the nose to keep them on the road after 4 years.
Hyundai has become more popular as of late, my boss has one.

Consensus is to avoid Dodge, Ford, Chevy. My last American car is our Saturn which be replaced within the next 2 years with either a Toyata, Mitsubishi or another Honda.
You cannot possible ever have watched "The Italian Job" and not know what the coolest car of all times is. Wink

Mine is yellow with white bonnet stripes, but I'd accept it of course if you chose a different colour for yours. ^^
awwwww, I love Mini's. I just wish they were affordable right now. *Sigh* love them. best birthday gift was when my father borrowed a Mini from a buddy for the weekend and let me drive it all weekend! =D it was soooooooooooo fun.

Hyundai is better than say, Kia, or... Peugot (lol) but still, it's dependable for the length of time you're likely considering Xander. but again, that's why I considered the lease option, which is something I never thought i would.

have you narrowed down on anything!?
The newer Hyundais are pretty reliable, and the new Elantra was a recommended model by Consumer Reports (I'm about to buy another car too).  Kia and Hyundai are made by the same company, but a Kia is really underpowered compared to others in the same class.
Nissan and toyotas are excellent, safe, reliable and economical  but unlike me you arent middle aged so you would probebly be better off getting something that fits your persona .Hybrid is definately the way to go

Volkswagon beetle or mini gets my vote for coolnessRespect to the Hat!

Actually this is very sensible. Our "family car" when my daughter was born was 3 door Saturn coupe. I drove a small pickup, needless to say once the S-10 died we bought a Honda CRV to tote the family around.

Point is I had bought my pickup in 95, my wife's car is a 99 so you have these things (generally) a lot longer then you might think.

well if you've got the spare £800,000 (US$1,560,000) then you can't go wrong with the Bugatti Veyron

Yes but VW, I mean Buggatti sell the veyron at a £500,000 loss.  Bargain!  it has 27 radiators you know!  I personnaly would go for the aston martin V8 Vantage. Gorgeous.

Avoid korean cars as they are boring.  Kia is a possible exception but only due to the 7 year warranty on it's parts.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX 360 (the ten is slower, but cleverer).  Put your foot down and it will tear off your head.  My mate flies around in his, and it really is like the proverbial sh*t off a shovel.

Anything german is good, (VW, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche) solidly engineered, out-last even japanese cars and are usually packed full of gizmos.  I am a big fan of the BMW 300 series (M3 M3 M3 M3!!!!!!!).

I had a BMW z3, it was soo much fun, but had to go as soon as I needed more than 2 seats!

I currently drive a reno scenic because it has 5 star euro N-CAP and no less than 14 airbags, and a massive boot for the dog!  Packed full of gadgets and gizmos.

Any none super italian car is also rubbish. they fall apart and are like driving a tin wardrobe being pushed by a slobbering walruss wearing a suit made off mess tins (ie, they drive and sound horrible, and if you have a bump, all that is left is a mangled ruin), I'm speaking specifically about the Fiat punto.

If budget is your main concern, a small 1.1 or so to cut down insurance, and they're generally good enough to get you from A-B.  I had a 1.3 mazda 323 for my first car, even though it was old and knackered, I still loved it, it had bags of personality
If you are gonna go old school. 1970 Dodge Challenger, my fav!

Nice! but you could have went with a GM Pontiac vibe
