This is another idea from HoH that fell through and died like everything else on there.

The idea is to sit down for one day a month/every 2 weeks and see how much you can paint in six hours and at the end of it post what you have done, with pics if you want to show exactly what you have done. Im sure there are loads of people here that find it difficult to sit down and get a lot of painting done, like me, so if enough of us signed up for this then it would really help to get a lot more of our armies completed and it would provide good motivation.

I'm willing to take part and organise this but who else would like to take part? Once there is about 10 or more people wanting to try it out we can set a time and date to start.

Participants so far:
Pyro Stick
Sojourn
Wallacer
Kera
Theory_Man
Ghrask Dragh
Narflung
Sousunou
Greenskin
Canix
Ishkur

Hm, wouldn't this mean that everyone is showing off half-painted miniatures in the end?

Only if you spend more than six hours painting one mini. You could use the time to paint whatever you want like to finish of half painted minis. Take pcis before and after so that we can see how much you have painted. Most of my models are all half done so finishing off half painted models is what i would be doing.

Thats three already. Are you wanting to take part Ishkur or can you not paint a full model in six hours?

Is it okay to do 2 sessions of 3 hours in one day or do you have to do the 6 hours straight?

And does this marathon require that we paint CD stuff?

You can do 2 sessions of 3 hours if you want or 3 sessions of 2 hours. It doesnt really matter but the more breaks you take the less you will get done.

If you dont have any CD stuff to paint then you dont need to paint CD's but i will be. Ocassionally i might pick up a TK or a WE if i get bored.

I suggest everyone build a six hour playlist and get it on your mp3 of choice (Zune FTW!) or if your comp is near your paint station get a six hour playlist ready on your Media Player of choice.

is it allowed to do conversions (greenstuffing) INSTEAD of painting in theese sessions? (as I have to convert myself a whole CD-army)

I guess you could do conversions for the first few but since they are quite far apart you should be able to build up enough models to be able to paint instead of convert in later painting marathons.

edit: I just realised that we all live in different time zones so how will we be able to time it so that we all start and finish at the same time?

Edit: are entries supposed to be CD-only, or would other stuff qualify as well?

Good point about the timezones Pyro, maybe doing it at the same time could be optional, if your in the right timezones then cool go for it but if your not just concentrate on getting the 6hours done the same day as everyone else, or atleast the same month Happy as long as all who are particpating keep posting at the start and end of their marathons it should be cool... right? Unsure

I guess that is the only way around it. It would be way too complicated to time it so that we all start at exactly the same time.

Thats 11 participants so far so doeas everyone want to try this out this coming Sunday? From 12 till 6?

Obviously not everyone is going to be able to take part all the time so we cant put it off if one or two people cant take part.

If we all did 6 hour sessions at completely random times through out the months then that would defeat the purpose of the whole thing. The purpose is for a lot of people to take part at the same time so that you know you are not alone in what you are doing and that you are painting this much for a reason, which is to show the other peope that are taking part what you have done at the same time as they have been painting. This is a group thing. If we did it at random times then it would be no different to updating your army blog.

So who can take part this sunday? I would only like to do this if there are more than 10 and at the moment there are 10 taking part and 2 not being able to take part this sunday (12 altogether).

I will be posting/painting from 6-12ish GMT Respect to the Hat!

6pm to midnight? Or 6am to midday?

So that's six that have confirmed themselves for Sunday. I guess we might as well give it a go and hopefully the others will take part as well. Im starting in an hour then.
I would like to participate, but at first, I was tentative due to the fact that it seemed a little too individualised. I.E. I think I'd enjoy it more if the people were THERE with me or if it were done with webcam and mic over MSN. However, I may start doing it anyway, I'll just have to make sure that I can set aside six hours... I could get a new cam and film it and post on youtube, he he he. Still, next time, if I can, I'll join in, but if anyone has a webcam and mic and want to do this with me, that'd be cooler.

As for timings, if people have each other's MSN addresses, they can arrange to do it at the same time as some others etc via that. Or people state their timezone as GMT +/- X hours...
Sounds cool to me. If we do it this 27th, I shall have EvilClown round and so I am sure that we shall do a 6 hour painting session, which I shall post my results after. As for the MSN stuff, if people wish to add me, look at my profile or go to the thread that Pyro has rather kindly and handily posted a link to. Not sure how much CD stuff I have left to paint though. As for actual CDs, I have two bases and two models to do, the rest would be greenskins or non-CD related stuff, he he he.
Looking good so far, Mosk. Getting that old, rotten flesh-stain look on the bones. Coming along nicely. If you use purple, don't overuse it. Also, it can be good to offset it with some red (again, not too much), particularly as red is a colour associated with the Blood Dragons.
I don't think I'm going to be able to participate in these until I get a MUCH better camera...

P.S. *starts singing* Kera fancies wallacer!
Why not say do the 6 hours over this weekend and have a set day for everyone to post?

Yes, wallacer, I am Tongue

I doubt I'll be in this one (due to the fact I've got two party things this weekend. Otherwise, I'd have to do LotR/7 Arrer Boyz/2 spiders&cold one in any combination).
Yeah, I mentioned it Big Grin I'd join in, but the 9th, I think I'm busy. Just checked, busy from a bit before 8pm, so I may join in. Pyro, why not use the microphone over MSN or the cam over Skype, he he he?
There sure is. Where you click the webcam button, it drops a menu for show webcam or video call. Also, at the top is a phone button and that is the same thing.
Some pictures are forth coming. Happy
