Hi guys Takes Hat off

I have been watching this forum for the last few weeks, whilst I thought about collecting CD, and the great work all of you have done has inspired me to try my hand! I finally bit the bullet and went out and bought a dwarf battalion box. I know the BfSP dwarfs are the popular choice here, but I didnt have access to any of those models without buying the whole set. Plus my local store gives a 10% discount so I got 24 warriors, 16 thunderblusses  and a cannon for various useful bits all for £45.
Anyway - to the point! Here are a couple of pictures of my first attempt:

I like the ball socket arms - great for varied units. I'm using shields from the skeletons box. The front design doesnt show fantastically well - its a skull with a plate over the eye. (I'm thinking of having the entire army themed around technomacy - lots of metal plates welded onto flesh with magic etc)
My main concern is the helmet. I like the faceless look but I'm thinking that perhaps it's not quite chaosy enough. I was hoping maybe you guys could give me a few pointers?

Thanks very much.

Maybe put a strange sort of twirling mowhawk type shape on the helmet. Just to make it different! I also really like how this model has turned out. Well done. Would love a better picture of the shield.
Cheers! I'm not quite sure what you mean by twirling mowhawk? Like a dward slayer at a Slayer gig?

Here's a picture of the shield:

I say you should do the following:
1. Bib or tusks/nose. The face has gotta look different from Dwarfs.
2. Scale Mail or Hats. One of the two, or both. Otherwise it just looks like a Dwarf with a different beard.

Not everyone is so keen on converting lots, but it really adds character and makes your army seem like something other than just Dwarfs with greenskins.
A really great start!  You've managed to keep the beard round, well done.  I would suggest even thinner roles and even more indentations. Can't wait for more!
Great job!Cheers!
To make him loook more chaotic make him tusk and a nose and finnally paint him in dark colors. Hashut!

Mind

A really good (but evilHappy ) warrior!

The face from what I can see is also good but if you want something different just add a mask or an hat or both.
I'm not a big fan of the big tusks/nose Happy

You could also try to remove the teeth from the skull and replace them with a flat curly beard, just a thought I had watching itHappy

I'm not a fan of tusks either. I use masks. If you have a friend who plays Chaos, or you do yourself, get either the mutated arm Xander uses, or the skull shoulder pad.
which skull shoulder pad is that?
By twisting mowhawk, I mean sort of like a thick braid of rpe. Mayhaps. Just something to make them different to other peoples', but stand out from the normal Dawi.
The skull shoulder pad is from the Marauders here:

It's on my champion and standart bearer.
Thanks for all the great feedback guys. I've been thinking it over and knocked up this little fellow-
Here is the new model next to the original one

So I've put more beard on (thinner too - thanks Xander). And the biggest change is the face. Before he felt too dwarfy and not very chaotic. Now he has a slightly curved skull mask and a pony tail:

The thing I'm wondering now is - does he seem too chaosy and not enough dwarf like. I just don't know if that skull is just too big.
Hahaha, I've just noticed the new one looks like he's giving the thumbs up. Well to cover that, and taking Mind's advice - I've done a new beardier shield (Again, old one on left, new on right)

So what do you guys think of the new fellow? Bit too much? Needs something else? I don't really like the hats to be honest, I can't imagine many of those appearing in my army. Any others suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Chheers - Monkey
Much better (evilerHappy) Cheers!
You can make 3 or more small "pony tails" to make him look better.

I REALLY like the new shield and new style. As aboe, make a couple of shorter plaits either side of the ponytail (about half the length) and IMO, lose the left or two leftmost strands of beard. Other than that, I have no comments other than cool!
i like the sheild on the right and the guy on the left
