I found this thread when I was googling for Fimir.

I thought some of you might like to know that a very long article describing the Fimir in great detail was published a couple of years ago in the indpendent and totally unofficial Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay fanzine Warpstone. Some samples are available as pdfs at the Warpstone site, including a set of rules for the Fimir in WFB6 (though this was written before the article was published, so there are differences in the way the Fimir are depicted):

The fanzine itself is a proper bound magazine, so isn't available for download I'm afraid, although it is still in print. I should also say that it's a completely not-for-profit publication - I mention that in case I'm violating any forum posting rules.

Thanks for the hello!

I'm not sure how much use the Fimir article would be for folks here, since it's purely written for roleplaying purposes, but it may be of some interest.

On a topic slightly closer to home, I wrote a short scenario involving Harpies for a recent issue of Warpstone. I included a short section on Harpies, finishing with this final paragraph:

"At the Mountains of Mourn, Harpies associate and even cooperate with Chaos Dwarfs, Black Orcs and Hobgoblins, most commonly acting as spies, guards and aerial watchmen. Chaos Dwarfs in particular make full use of Harpies for observing the activities of their uncorrupted brethren along the World’s Edge Mountains, and the birdwomen make excellent tools for capturing slaves to keep their black industries running."

If they aren't included already, maybe Harpies could be added to the Chaos Dwarfs' allies list.

considering that albion is the warhammer ireland and the fimir are from albion....makes sense.

im a fan of the ulster cycle myself...
well, there are a few similarities, the truthsayer is verymuch reminicent of a celtic irish druid, the ogham stones and the backround in the shadows of albion campaign suggest a more celtic/irish backround than british.  let me dig out the campaign book and give examples.
I joined the forum and then promptly forgot all about it, so this is a little delayed!

Father Grumpmas Wrote:
The GW Fimir seem to be ripped from the irish legend of the Fomorians, a mythical race that inhabited Ireland. There are various versions as to what they looked like, but have generally been described as ugly. giant, and sometimes as sea demons.

Their king, Balor, had only one eye - hence the fimir having one central eye.

Here's a link to another WFB forum where somebody quotes Graeme Davis (one of the Fimir creators) from the old WFRP mailing list. It sheds some more light on the creation of the Fimir. Post 27 is the one to look at.
