How's that for an idea? It would be an upgrade option, and would be perhaps S3. Might cause fear tests instead of terror.
Say 25 pts per model? Using my base profile that would bring each model out at 90 pts. Which means although you could have them in units you'd be unlikely to see whole units armed like this, they would be single 40mm based models wondering round.
Wouldnt this only be possible if the iron golems were fed with people? Hellcannons NEED to be fed people and they spew out the leftovers but i dont imagine an iron golem needing to be fed people unless they are stationary things that only have hellcannon like weapons. I imagine Iron Golems being possessed constructs that have minimal long range weapons and focus more on close combat and unless they have a CD crew chasing them around a battlefield feeding them people then i dont think giving them Spew Ichor is possible. It sounds more like something the Kollosus would have.
I´d be less for ichor but more for something like the steamcannon (?) the
dwarf gyrocopter uses... but that would turn it more into a dreadnought
with flamer... generally, i like the idea but I´ts very 40k-ish and i´m not sure
if fits fantasy
What if the Iron Golems ate people... Or more accurately stuffed their remains into an oven type thing that formed their belly.
It would be a powerful short ranged creature.
I edited the cost, I had the base cost as 65, so that would bring the cost out at 90 per model. (edit 55 pts per model)
Would it be like a breath weapon? That's complex for a unit because it means it can split its fire over several targets. Perhaps use it like a troll's vomit attack? As a special close combat attack instead of a shooting attack, I mean.
I immediately baulk at the idea of a whole unit of 90 point models anyway...
If they're not units then it works fine, but I believe the Hellcannon has lost its ability to spew ichor in the new WoC book, so if the idea is to tie it to that in background terms then you might want to rethink it.
That would be much easier to do rules for.
Perhaps a single S5 attack, replacing the usual profile. No armour saving throw.
I could probably bring that down to 60 points/ model. Realised the base cost was edited to 55 points. 5 points for one S5 attack that ignore armour seems reasonable?? Bearing in mind they are S5 and 2A normally.
More of a Spit Ichor than a full projectile Spew
EDIT: In my list the Hellcannon only Spews Ichor by an upgrade.
You could make them steam powered, and thus:
M=2D3
WS=3
S=Artillery die (missfires are S6 on self with no saves and no attack that turn)
T=5
W=2
I=2
A=1
Ld=1
Sv= 3+
Special: Unbreakable, Immune to Psychology, Strike Last
Upgrades:
Steam Attack: breath weapon
Extra Armour: +1Sv
Emergency Valve: 3+ save against Missfires. If the save fails, you're hit twice.
Unbreakable already covers Immune to Psychology. Also, 2D3 is a bit messy. Might as well make it D6 - I know they aren't mathematically the same, but it takes too long to figure out 2D3 when it's only very slightly different from D6.
You're right on that first point dude, I changed it to ItP half-way through and didn't correct it.
I see your point on the D6 being more intuitive. Perhaps D6-1? They won't always move.
That could work. There is the reliability issue though - I don't know if clanking, exploding machines quite fit with the idea of Chaos Dwarfs as...you know...competent engineers
It sort of depends what you want from your "golem" too. The concept of the golem has religious overtones and certainly fits with the near-eastern imagery of the Chaos Dwarfs, but Grim's conception seems to be of them as Daemon-bots. Perhaps something more like huge bronze statues with spirits bound into their mechanisms would blend the two ideas: something more like the Tomb King Ushabti. Steam doesn't quite fit with that, but spewing ichor might, I suppose - to me that's still more explicitly a "machine" rather than an animated statue though.
Yes, I think we have two conflated ideas here and need seperate them out. Steam golems like those I mooted would be either cheap or need be powered up.
Demonic statues like Grims would be less mechanical, and would spew, say, fire, and be like the Ushtabi, as you say.
I'll actually be putting an Iron Golem Mark I model up soon. My concept for Mark II is so different they couldn't realistically be part of the same unit. Shame really.
