I was thinking about this today.  It seems to me there are a few good reasons why we won't be in a combined Chaos book.

The main reason is that they can do similar things better.

For instance:

CD Warriors:  Sure theyre cheaper than Chaos Warriors, but even with special rules would anyone choose them over them?  Maybe for variety, but they don't do that very often.

Hobgoblins/ Slaves:  If they want anything like this it doesn't have to be connected to us.

Bull Centaurs:  Compared to Chaos Knights... Or Chosen Chaos Knights..?  Enough said.

An elite infantry unit without warriors as a choice would be pointless and out of character.

The second main reason is that we would cover too many weaknesses in their own list.

Blunderbussers/ artillery:  All obvious choices that would be used a lot, but would ultimately make Chaos unbalanced.

Unless they can think of some novel way to include them as a complete secondary list in the same book (possibly with Beasts of Chaos as well... Legion of Chaos), I am seriously doubting now whether they would throw us in.  Which IMO is absolutely perfect!

Added to this the rumours on warseer that they might attempt to reduce our direct link with the mortal followers of chaos a little (i.e. we still use the dark forces of chaos/daemon binding for our own ends, but are otherwise seperate from the powers of chaos themselves fluffwise, not necessarily always being allied to them).

I never really saw much of a connection between CD and regular chaos anyway, hasnt been one for years until the whole hellcannon incident.

yea, but that was a buisness deal like the men of the empire geting normal dwarves to make full plate for them, we just when for something a bit more effective

I, for one, would be most exquisitely pleased to see us removed from a direct link to chaos. I don't mind us bartering and brokering deals with them, etc etc, but as a whole, I prefer us being slightly more removed. I know people will start saying "But we're CHAOS dwarfs and we HAVE direct links to chaos", but I have always seen us as a much more separate entity...

The thing I'm most afraid of is if they just stick CD warriors in the Chaos book.  It would almost force us to create a CD army from Chaos.  Sure we could use HGs as Marauders and BCs as Chaos Knights, but our only ballistics would be the Hell Cannon and we would be a very limited army in that way.  And it would be so very easy for GW to do that, a bunch of slow moving dwarfs are not going to unbalance the army at all.

well the biggest problem with such a scenario would be the characters...
sticking a M4 exalted champ in amongst M3 dwarves would make me sad...

but no... a 12" ranged attack is not gonna unbalance chaos...
and if the artillery all goes daemonic a la grundgebearer...
you'll find it too overpriced, unpredictable, and unreliable to leave a dramtaic impact on the factions balance...

I definatly think they should remain seperate. Sure Chaos played an integral role in their creation, but it is nice to see that dwarfs have still remained fiercly independant of the rest of the Chaos tide and act as a nice exception to the rule of everything tainted by Chaos bows to its power.

I think that is pretty much the hitting of the nail on the head right there.  Imagine Marauder units and Chaos Knights supported by Blunderbusses and bolt throwers *shudder*

There is also the fact that Chaos Dwarfs never really seemed particularly chaotic to me.  In fact they seem to have a highly ordered hierarchical industrialised society which seems anything but Chaotic.
Immoral and perhaps even evil, yes.  But Chaotic?
I've always thought that the CD should be regarded more like the Dark Elves or Orcs.  Nasty pieces of work certainly, but not exactly Chaotic.

I would definitely not like to see us without our own personalised rulebook, I'd prefer to stick with Ravening Hordes than join up with those others.

I agree with many others that even if we are chaos, we dont fit together with "normal" chaos. We are a complete diffrent type of army that needs his own book. I see us more as evil dwarfs affected by chaos instead of us as chaos dwarfs.

There would be no reason for us to be in a chaos book as  I have stated in different threads on this site and HoH. Apart from the missile units, which would unbalance the list there is simply no use for any of the CD list in a Chaos Army. Another point which has not been mentioned is the fact that GW has done away with 20mm bases in Chaos armies. CDs would therefore be yet another race apart which could not be joined by any characters except their own.

maybe in the next reincaranion, their will be less enmphasis on chaos dwarfs and more on Dwai 'Zharr (sp?)

alos, us lot throughing out axes in with the orcy lot for nemisis is also showing GW that we dont want to be directly chaos!

Well said TK, my local staffers wanted me to be part of Chaos for our local campaign, but I stuck a load of slaves in the army and MADE them put my wins under orcs (as yet I am undefeated with the stunted ones!)
