Full Version: Mouthwatering Chaos Dwarf Rumour

I have it from a very reputable source that as we speak Gav Thorpe is working on the Chaos Dwarfs army book, and that we can expect an early 2009 release for Chaos Dwarfs.

Of course, such rumours have been floating around for quite some time, but I am inclined to believe my source based on prior experiences.

This is pretty exciting to me!  This means anything you post right now could possibly influence the book itself, if only indirectly!  Keep the support for Chaos Dwarfs as high as possible as we ramp up to this release!

Sounds good Grim.  We'll reopen that Rumour Section once things start rolling out.

Cheers! I hope it is true also, he is a trusted source, so I am sitting confident.
Two years. Damnit. Wink Good news though. Let's hope it changes from rumour to truth.

Makes sense.  Having spoken with Jervis a handful of times recently he's talked about the finishing of existing armies.  So making sure that already established armies like Orks or Chaos Dwarfs or Lost and the Damned have a good book is a significantly higher priority than making new stuff, like Alien Hunters or Cathay.  (His examples after people were asking the inevitable "when will my army get new stuff" question)

And with Orks being not too far off and the recent confirmation of a Ruinous Powers dex, CDs may not be too far off

Add some wood to the furnace for me too

Ya we get an army book,oh I wonder will they do hat's or hell cannon style.

not looking to good with the big GW is it

Depends how you look at it:

Sure that looks kind of bad, right?  Wow, GW is in trouble....

However:

When you look at it this way, there isn't much to complain about, unless you are a shareholder. Hehe.

And really, most of the drop of in sale is probably from all the LoTR players moving on after the hype started dyeing down.

I think that is a very fair assessment.  You can see usual growth in 2001-2004 coinciding with the movie releases.

That kind of goes with my proposed idea for GW.  Keep the same LOTR gaming system, but buy up new IPs (Intellectual Properties), especially movies and release games for them.  Who would have bought a 300 gaming system with sweet Spartan models?  You'd already know how to play the game since it would be the same system, but you'd get sweet new models and rulesets for the different armies.

You can't keep making LOTR games without the hype of the movies.

I have played video games since before I played HeroQuest.  So I know for myself video games have never gotten in the way.

But HeroQuest was my ticket in, a mainstream game sold in a department store.  I would love a new dungeon game from GW that would be sold in department stores.

You can always convert your own.  I've seen the following counts as armies (or at least a test model)
Spartans:
Dogs of war, Lizardmen, Khorne Mortals (wtf?) Bretonnians (with 2 pikemen per base), Easterlings, Urukhai, Boromir w/ Osgiliath Vets, Grey Knights and Eldar.  And I'm planning on making some once the Dol Amroth Men at Arms come out.
Persians
Skaven, Beastmen (actually my fav.  Xerxes was a Master of Mortal Daemon Prince, the Big base was for his palaquin.  mostly skirmishing dudes and some daemonettes), Harad and Khand.

Talisman is being rereleased in.. October?  That will be probably be sold in other places I believe.
Ah yes, Talisman could be really fun.

Videogames keeps children from doing models, heroquest was awsome and the new talisman games is made of card...

That's the problem with the new talisman game! We need miniatures! Heroquest was awsome, but what got me into warhammer was actually a videogame... or a computergame. I remember 9 years ago, when Heroes of Might and Magic 3 first came out. I had played heroes 1 and 2 since I was like 5 years old, and got the 3rd game as soon as it came out, but after playing it for a couple of months, I simply needed some material things from the game, and so I began to make fimo sculpts for the differant creatures and play with them. It all went well until one of my friends got his hands on a white dwarf mag. It was the issue with the 4th ed Chaos mortals. I remember when I saw a pic of the slaanesh snake-lady, Dechala the denied one, I wanted it as a Naga Queen, then I saw skinks, griffons, elves, dwarfs, orcs and undead.
Do you remember the old one-piece plastic boxed sets with 5-10 models for like £4? Those were awsome! My first model was such a pack of skinks, then came a zombie dragon and some genestealers (WTF?) and I remember something about an old skeleton bone chariot that I might have got even before the skinks...

Cool old times... The nostalgia...

so videogames can get people into wargaming...

Nice planning Wallacer. =]
According to Hastings, concept skteches have already been stotted, and I wouldn't be suprised, if the new book will be incredible, and make up for the little care CDs have been given during it's lifetime.

Thanks

Not these Samurai Goblins I hope. Tongue

ChaosStunty

Do you mean DOGS of war?
Games Workshop doesn't really discontinue support for Specialist Games, they just finish with them and no longer stock them in Retail Stores.  They have to do this from a business stand point. Tongue

It would be a cool game to try, especially with some Oil Powered Ships of the Dawi Zharr.
GW isn't going under, their stock price could drop, but they are still raking in the cash.  I bring your attention once again to the charts.

I know we have been getting off topic a bit, so if you want to continue the Warhammer Online discussion, make a topic in the Off-Topic section. Happy

I spoke with Phil Kelly (he was on polish team championships). He said that VC will be the first in row, then probably DE. As for our CDs, they are to be completly changed and done from scratch. He wouldn't say anything more, but declared himself as a member of the hat lobby.
Well, I for one am glad that wie will soon get some solid fluff, some rules clarificiations and models that we can buy, whilst still being able to convert them. yes, some of the list will be nerfed, but that's always going to happen. We won't get everything we want, but I don't mind. Also, another piece of info, I looked at the WHFRP expansion, Old World Bestiary, and have decided I have GOT to get it. It had CDs, BCs and Hobgoblins in. May have the mounts too. Not sure as of yet Big Grin
