bettah would be forums admins mass e-mails to users with this information Wink
We're not alolowed in the UK GT? Odd. Both DOW and Chaos Dwarfs were legal in a small tournie I was in a while back.
Ah ha. Here's the thing. Ireland is no longer part of the UK sytores. It's included under Northern Europe which to be honest, seem to run a much better ship.

And WD only has two writers now? Blimey. No wonder it's a load of trash.
hmmm... maybe we could try to create e-petition 'bout our case? hmmm...?

Yes, but what's the point in having a 'legal' army if it can't be used in a GW tournament?
Obviously you can still play with those armies against your friends but not being able to go to the UK GT (the most prestigious tournament) is quite disheartening.

Right, CDs are not valid in the UK Grand Tournament only they are still perfectly usable in any store or club tournament, and are allowed in other GW events, so long as you are not informed otherwise by the organisers themselves beforehand. The GT rightly wants to ensure that only the most balanced lists are used as this is a regular front for power gamers to demonstrate their particular take on WFB. Since many of the ravening hordes lists were considered a bit unbalanced they have decided not to admit the two remaining ones. Unfortunate but for once you can kind of see their point

3.  We fit in with the history and the geography of the old world rather than just being a small system that could easily be consumed by tyranids should GW see fit to rid themselves of them, and completely write them off because they never really had anything to do with the history of the imperium anyway.

Yes, because there is no uber-powerful race with a voracious and unsaitable hunger which has suddenly appeared on the eastern edge of the known regions poised to migrate and crush all in their path in WFB... Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean GW aren't after us!!!

Hehehehe. Excellent news. Big Grin
Who cares whether we're oficial at GTs. Thats only a few games a year, and as long as outr regular opponents don't complain we can keep playing
Jervis has always been my favorite staffer. I think if we responded that since the list has been official since WD 250 we don't actually want anything new, we just want to be able to use our existing army using existing rules, and that this would certainly do no more to foster expectations than mentioning them in the fluff more regularly as they have. I actually understand GWs reasoning about not releasing a WD list without support (they really don't wanna bring back the big hats and the way they sold who can blame them...) but we're not asking for anything extra after all.
Good to see that you're good and well, Xander.

Good old Jervis! You can actually see that he gives two ticks about the hobbyists. Any army can be made 'cheesey' but we often get the spotlight due to the Earthshaker. Don't forget to mention that the changes need any extra playtesting, us at CDO will be only too happy to help.
This is the best response GW have given us thus far, let's not push it. Changes even in the PDF will set us back much further as they will need to be playtested thoroughly if the list is to stay tournament official, which GW will probably not do and we'll end up consigned to being another "article" list like Cult of Ulric or Dark Elf City garrison. What we want is a PDF errata answering questions on the use of CDs in the 7th edition and confirmation that they are still a legal army to use at tournaments and current GW events, excepting the current UK GT, which we are resigned to and understand GW would not wish to have to issue rules packs updates on now for the potential use of one or two players. If we are as reasonable as possible, there is no way they can turn us down. If we start asking for list changes that becomes more of an issue.[/i]
LOL@metro_gnome! Big Grin Though I really doubt if there are indeed a lot of CD forums out there...

@Xander: good to have you back. We've missed our High Priest a lot!
Let's not talk about who is fighting for the army book and who isn't. There is no way that any of us can proactively influence or force Games Workshop to do anything. They plan their releases some 12-24 months ahead and no forum, be it an old one or a n00b one, as metro_gnome so nicely put it, can change anything about that.

BTW metro, - although this forum might be new, that does not mean that it's members are. I am into GW tabletop for about 14 years now, I think I have a quite clear view of how they work and how much influence the fan base would have on their business plans... no need to bring me back to Earth!

Let's just face it, they don't care if we like big hats or not, they will do their own thing based on their own ideas. On the one hand that's sad because I obviously like the big hats, on the other hand the new miniatures won't look shitty either.

What I seriously dislike anyway is people saying with certainty what GW will do in future and what they won't. I hear it all the time in any forum. But I also heard hundreds of people saying for years and years that there would never be a plastic Baneblade - ever.
Looks like we could do with a few mod bombs here.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm thankful for any bone that GW throws us. An update would be great but weither I get one or not, I'll still happly play my Chaos Dwarfs.
That would explain the Necron Horse. Big Grin
But Druchii.net is even credited in the WD update. GW do sometimes refer to the forums as it highlights problems some players have with lists and allows far more thourough research than GW has the time to go into. Ultimately, GW makes their decisions and doesn't "run them by" forums, nor should they, but to say they don't even look is ridiculous.

Any suggestions for what models to attach?

I'm thinking a couple of heroes/units/warmachines.  Some painted some not, and preferably the converted/scratch built stuff, as I'm sure he's seen plenty of big hats in his time!

I would say any of the conversions of Bfsp sets with chaos marauder bits by any of the talented converters on this site Respect to the Hat!

I'd say any models which highlight the new look rather than big hats as it shows we're progressive and understand that big hats have probablly had their day.

All we need ask for is this
a) We have some rules questions regarding Bull Centaurs and Sneaky Gitz, could Jervis or another games developer give us a definative ruling on how these rules work in the seventh edition
b) Could these judgements be added to the errata so we can show them to be official in any tournaments, e.g. the US grand tournament

I think if our rules are to become unofficial they could at least notify us. If not I think we are as perfectly entitled to have an answer to a rules question as any other army, regardless of when or if they update the list

While I can certainly see spears for HGs in an updated list, they aren't oversights or problems caused by rule changes, they are just "nice to have" items.  Are there any units in any other army in Ravening Hordes that didn't have spears, but do now in their army book?  One of the reasons I am hesitant about musicians is that these are things that aren't broken, they just aren't as nice as they could be.  If we are giving them spears to make them like Goblins then we should make HGs cost a point extra too, and it starts to spiral out of control.

I wondering if the 5+ unit size is too much in itself, the only reason I put it in there was because there are no other cavalry units in the game with a minimum unit of 10.

Malificant: Anything in the US-GT FAQ that I haven't mentioned is intended to remain as it is, so that Sneaky Git rule is still in there.  The list isn't quite polished yet.

with that in mind Cornixt you have made some definitive changes to the list...
which are obviously in our favour... i think i just saw jervis twitch...
address BB ranks... they should be 5 wide for all purposes... as they have been errataed for the 7th ed building FAQ...
i do not believe it is within the "intent" that green units be allowed to use banners... so cut Big 'Un use as well...
I also don't believe its within designers "intent" that BC models (characters in particular) should get +2S for GWs...
while I like your solution to the garbage that is the sneaky git ruling...
im not sure that it was "intended" that the unit couldn't make its free maneuver while engaged by two enemies...

but who knows what the "intent" was... "intent" is a fart in the wind...

It was all done with the FAQ in mind, as in "All you have to do is change these small bits in something that has already been done by GW and we'd be happy for a while" (although it did increase far more than I had originally intended), which of course leaves in the bits you point out.  I'm not certain that the premise will work.

To be absolutely clear on this, THERE IS MORE OR LESS ZERO CHANCE OF ANY RULES CHANGES IN THE PDF. We should simply ask for a definative answer to the Bull Centaur and Sneaky Gits questions which we can use in official tournaments (e.g. USGT). Lets not kid ourselves, a man recieved an e-mail and sent a polite response, this does not mean that we can't e-mail him back with a couple of questions. It does mean that we shouldn't try and persuade him to take on a load of extra work re-working a list and making it official. If you still want an official army list, I suggest you don't campaign for changes to the PDF.
All I want is a better FAQ for the army.  Not changes to the Rh pdf.
Hell, I'll have something done by tomorrow for both RAW and opinion.
