Hi well after sometime I've decided to buy the evil genius's and create an army.  I have bought a ton of models mainly 5th ed with some 3rd ed warriors, my problem now is inspiration for my army colour scheme.

I have had a look around on the website, but is there any colour combos that people definitely work and don't.  I look forward to hearing your replies.

The picture is about 6 posts down.  Cheers
Well I'd say if you have taken a look around the website / forum, you should be pretty well informed about what schemes are commonly used. Black and red is the classical colour combo, brass and brown leather will also fit nicely.
Any metallic colour along with red or black or brown should do the trick.
Personally, I like Tamiya Dark Copper and either red or black.
But as the previous poster said, just search around this site and you should fine more than enough inspiration.
Heres a topic i started on HoH:

That should be quite useful. As for the 3rd efition models i have a thread on this forum about painting the renegades which are 3rd edition models. If you have the crossbowmen then i could get a few pcitures of mine if you want. I also have a painted Whirlwind, Swivel Guns, Bazooka (not very good) and a Mortar/Petard.
Thanks guys.

I basically was looking to see whether a striking colour scheme would be out of place.  As most of my models are 5th ed.  But from what I can see as mentioned it's metals with red/black.  Something I was looking to get away from.  But I also want to keep within the bounds of their background.  I've got just over 2 and half months before the tournament i want to play them in.
No colour scheme is that out of place.  It all depends on your skill as a painter:
I would avoid blue.  Its used very often for the western Dwarfs, and rarely looks evil.

IMO you should avoid yellows/ oranges and anything too bright.  Maybe avoid white as well?
I'm currently doing some tester models with 5th ed plastics.  Once i've done enough of a selection I'll put them up for you guys to give opinions.  But so far the colours have been a Snot Green, Sky blue, bilous green (wife did that one Happy), and I intend to do 3 more.  Hopefully I will have them up tonight.  Cheers
I have never uploaded pictures before and I carn't upload it straight from my computer Angry.  Can somebody either except my picture or tell me how to go about getting it up please.  Thanks

Yep figured out how to use it.  But it won't let me download it in attachments.

Right it's done thanks for that.

Basically I'm interested in what people think looks the best colour scheme not the armour as most diddn't get all their armour completed.  Thanks

For attachments it needs to be an image file, for the [ img] [ /img] link/thing it needs to be an url. If you already have uploaded the images to the photobucket use the [ img] thingy.
I have to say I am quite fond of the two outermost dwarfs on the left and right, mainly because I think Chaos Dwarfs just have to have black beards. The guy on the outer right side is my personal favourite.
Cheers for the replyCheers!.

It's funny I posted the picture on my other forum site.  Wargamerau.com and I've had a mixed response to the colour schemes.  With some saying they need the brightness of the green to the more subtle of the far right.

I now need to apply this to the metal models which may change how they look. Thanks again.

I like the two outermost as well. The purple is attractive, but I like the contrast between the blue and brass on the other one. If I had to pick one I think I'd go with the purple one, its more regal.
Purple one for me to tho he could have different bootsRespect to the Hat!

i actually liked the ice blue-one most! It's a unik colourscheme from almost every othersTakes Hat off
The ice blue one in the middle looks th most striking to me.
my personal favourite is the one on the left
i like the deep green one although i would add more bronze and gold

you know your a material race when you and your army is encased in a suit of pure gold and silver
