In order here are the various parts used to create this guy (I was hoping someone would ask).

Dwarf thane from BFSP
Classic Archaon's head
Left arm from the Empire knights sprue
Blade from the zombie sprue for the fist/gauntlet
2 shoulder pads from the marauder sprue
Feet from a chaos warrior from the chaos warrior sprue
Arm from a dwarf axe (the shaft part)
2 marauder leader axes
Spikes from the chaos warrior sprue
Lots of green stuff!
And there you have it, 1 unique CD general.
Here is what my general will be riding into battle on. Writing up some rules for it being a throne from one of the ruined dwarf holds (perhaps Karak Eight Peaks, or Karak Azgal) and then captured my my CDs... Brought back to Zharr-Naggrund and the chaos dwarf sorcerers "went to town on it". The throne will have capture banners on the back as well as some severed heads perhaps, we'll see.
So here are the photos with the unit and by itself. Please note that a good number of warriors and the throne bearers have had zero converting to them or minimal. In the case of the warriors some still need a lot of green stuff work.

.I'm looking forward to seeing it finished!
Some nifty conversion work on your other guys too btw.
Kobarf
Hey thanks guys!
Kobarf. You see I'm a trend setter, now EVERYONE will want a CD general on a throne. Then you'll be able to say you knew way back! ![]()
New recruits have arrived in the form of a unit of 19 Big Uns and a start of 20 Chaos Dwarf Warriors armed with 2-handed weapons. I say 19 for the orcs because GW in their infinite wisdom only puts 19 in the damn box, what a bunch of losers! So now I need to find one orc to round out the unit. They are armed with 2 hand weapons as you will see below.
Also found my wolf riders I painted several years back for no particular reason. After I cut of the feet to duplicate and make a mold for the hobbos on foot I will be revamping them for hobgoblins in the service of the Chaos Dwarfs.
Tonight I am hoping to finish green-stuffing my fist CD warrior unit.
Anyways on to the pics:

The 1st chaos sorcerer is now nearing completion:

More work has been completed on the general's throne:

The general himself has now been primed and is ready to be painted.

This first unit of chaos dwarf warriors is seemingly taking forever. The reason... waiting on parts yet again. but it is at least primed.

And last but not least I have started on my first slave unit: a unit of 20 Big Un's with two hand weapons!

More updates to come but been a bit busy lately.
I have been busily working along on the army though this update may not seem like it. I finally got all of my CD warriors converted for my first 30 dwarf infantry unit.
This unit will be accompanying my general and his throne. The snag ended up being the throne bearers as I did not like the green stuffing I had done on them. So I went back to the drawing board. Also the throne bearers were not fitting entirely right on the 40x60 mm base. While they are not complete now, I like them much better and have a much clearer understanding of how I will model them. Of course that means I had to order yet more chaos warrior heads... so they are in the mail now.
Also while not as tricky as multi-part chaos warriors, getting these guys to rank up correctly was anything but fun.
NOTE: for the standard bearer: the dwarf shield in not primed on the standard pole.
I also started painting my general: Lord Xardin, scroll down to see his WIP pics.

Clam- Thanks! I can't wait myself to see it painted. However, this particular unit has been an exercise in patience. The throne particularly so. Because each time I need parts after a direction change its waiting for them to arrive in the mail. The good thing is that I had parts coming for my 2nd unit of warriors which included a number of chaos warrior heads. So now three of them will be diverted to the throne bearers.
Canix. Thanks!
Zagor- No. I'm calling my general Lord Xardin, perhaps Lord Xardin Spitestone or Spiteslayer, not sure which yet.
and breathe.
Nice job WM!
Awww thanks guys. Hammerhand you will be happy to know that I have done some more Green Stuffing to the throne it is now almost ready to be painted (in a couple of days), maybe on Wednesday night I should have new pics up.
Kera- Have it! As I have said in the blog feel free to "cherry-pick" ideas and even improve upon them.
Mark
In all seriousness two jobs, two young kids and a dog does impact the painting time. More pics coming I promise.
While not completely done my general and his entourage (aka Throne Bearers) are nearing that state. The throne is about 80% there as you can see. The one throne bearer on the left is not yet done as you can see. In order to get the throne to sit correctly he will have to be glued in place once the throne is complete so I will be painting him separately, hopefully very soon. Back banners still need quite a bit more painting. Still quite a bit of washes to add as well.
Note the flesh capes on the bearers from the marauder sprues, who says CDs aren't evil!
Also the one poles for one of the front right bearer is is not attached in the pics. In order to get it to fit once the three bearers were glued to the base I had to cut and pin it. I've "dry fit" it a couple of times and it should line up nicely. I'm also going to be adding an additional "final touch" to the front part of the poles once it is glued in place.
Next the underside of the throne will be getting something cool too. Probably won't be able to see it all that wel once done, but I think it will add a nice touch. More to come on that part.
Lastly, FYI the stone just got glued so I haven't primed it yet.
Hammerhand- Thanks! Glad to know there is someone else in the "same boat" as I!

For all intents and purposes this is done. I only have to finishing painting the skulls hanging from the poles and add a few touch ups here and there. May add a few more spots of green stuff, but as I said more or less its final form.
Also note the underside of the throne. Its all about maximum utilization of the BFSP set I hear Xander say
Yah! two things actually done for my army: my general and the Hellcannon. Now its on to the chaos dwarf infantry unit accompanying my general and my big uns unit...

Thats the slayer's problem!
All-
Thanks Guys! Tonight I should start work on the accompanying unit as well as the afore mentioned Big Un's. Plus I have Chaos Ogres assembled and ready to be primed; the movement tray for said ogres is already primed.
Plus I am still tinkering with my first chaos dwarf sorcerer. Plus there is my lammasu and rider to work on.
Also, I'm slowly amassing parts for my 20 CD great weapon unit...
Also underway: I have completed a hobgob bolt thrower... still need crew though.
WARNING TEASER AHEAD:
Next Months purchases (I'm spacing these things out) are:
10 Bull Centaurs! Just bodies, as I already have done a test torso and head with a great weapon should work out good. Also will be adding 10 gobbo wolfriders to start....
Stay tuned!
Lovely work, it looks great. I am now considering having my lord on a palanq..... palinqu..... pallyanqua...... carry thingy, great inspiration and a lovely job well done. Can't wait for the BC's!
Of course! Its all about leaving the "fans" wanting more! ![]()
Go for it. Your work is awe-inspiring Hammerhand; would love to see your take on a palanquin/throne/carry thingy!
I know that it is going to be black, the claws may be red. Right now I don't like the left arm.. I want it more raised up like it is trying to swipe someone with a paw. May have to get out my dremel and cut it off and green stuff it.
The wings: I may use dragon wings for it. The metal ones that came with it are too small, you know the dragonmaster ones.
I have a vague idea for the base and how the Lammasu will fit on it. The problem has been the rider... nothing is coming to me just yet, admitedly I haven't worked on it too much yet.
Kera-Thanks.
