Also as noted in the poll thete is strong interest in seeing the Death Rocket, Hobbo wolf riders as well ad CD warriors w/ great axes; filed away for future consideration...
<After waking up from shock> I started with bronze dry brushed; added black ink; dry brush gold; simple as that really. I use non-GW paints for the most part.
Note: honored you would ask Ishkur, not sarcasm intended.
Minty- get cracking then!
Hobbo archer unit is ready to go too, but as promised in the poll, its Blundies first.
Hopefully I'll have some pics of their WIP state up shortly.
Not being one to slack I figured now was a good time to show my WIP photos of my blundies. As promised these are the next unit to be complete per the recent poll. They are nearing completion, but still have a ways to go. I might finish them this week.
Additionally, I have some shots of various other units in progress: my count as army standard; hobbo archers and my first converted hobbo wolfrider. Enjoy. as always comments welcome.

I got a bunch more done on the blundies done last night. Right now the majority just need to have the bases finished and static grass added. The musician needs a bit of refinement on the top of his instrument which I started working on last night but ran out of time on.
The standard bearer needs a bit more green stuffing done to him but the basic shape and most details are done; just a bunch of green stuff needed on the banner.
I was also able to squeeze in some painting on the first hobbo archer unit as well.
That count as standard bearer looks awesome and could always be a sorcerer or hero if you wished as well.
The wolfrider, when painted, you wouldn't realise it wasn't a hobgoblin miniature to begin with. Kudos, my dear sir!
Thanks. I'm adding some orange to punch the colors up a bit...
Thanks on the sorcerer... but he is going to get a stone paint job and its army flag duties for him.
Cool. I'll have to look into that!
In order.
HB: Maybe. I could always work something in to his carrier where he is removable, I'll have to give that some thought.
Kera= Thanks much!
Ishkur- Come on Dude they are WIP!
Clam- Nope the bearer was just taking longer to do then the rest of the unit. He's finally Green Stuffed now, just has to be primed. Feel free to steal the WR and anything else, that what this blog is for. Its a pair of goblin wolf rider legs combined with the torso from the archer leader from the BFSP set. lots a of green stuff and a dwarf shield and dwarf axw. In my army the chaos dwarfs let nothing go to waste so the give the axes and shields of defeated dwarfs to the hobbos, preferring to use their own.
GS Archers might very well happen with the way vultureBay prices are going now. the archer from the gobbo BFSP would be the basis
GHV entry slowing progress a bit on my army, but I now have my blundies nearly done. The standard bearer is the last to be painted and has been primed.
Continuing on the theme of Core Troops; the 2nd unit of chaos dwarfs is now fully greenstuffed. Only a few more minor bits to add to the musician. They along with the first hobbo archer unit are the most likely canidates to be done next, hobbo archers may even be done tonight.
Thanks to bandnerd I now have the parts I will need for my count as army standard. I now have a fairly clear idea of how the base will work along with the figures bearing him! I also have an idea for his paint scheme, which if I can pull off will be awesome.
The first unit of Wolf riders or my death rocket are on deck as well.
Willmark's Army Builder Tip #3
If you are looking to build your army at the pace that I am plan out your purchases ahead of time. Not which order you have to paint in but rather having units enroute while you are finishing others.
I've found that sketching out ideas and jotting down notes per each unit has been invaluable in terms of being efficient in terms of my painting time. Plus you can work out design problems or ideas before you ever start actual work. Another benefit it gives you a handy checklist to mark off as your army progresses.
Continuing on with my plan to add many more core units, I offer up the following...
Before you peruse farther, many of these units are under construction (particularly the wolf boyz) and many have much more work to go before paint
I'll start off with my first units of Blundies. For all intents and purposes these guys are now done. Just some touch up on the bases and the actual base on the standard bearer to finish. They now have a name too "the Fire-Hurlers".

Next up is my 2nd unit of chaos dwarf warriors: "The Harbingers of Doom". I have not shown photos of these guys since September. They are now nearing being fully constructed. You'll note the bases to the side, my count as army standard bearers are going in there; parts are in the mail.

Hobbo-wolfriders!
Bit more done but none have extensive green stuffing done expect for the leader. I say "leader" since I may take another one and add some green stuff armor to him. Again, not has been done to them in a few weeks. The wolves need a lot more shading. The whole unit if based on a wolf boy unit I did for fun 8 years ago, I didn't have an O&G army @ the time (still don't), but just wanted to paint of some gobbo wolf boyz. So I hacked them apart and started to make them into hobbos. The wolves are painted of in terms of dry brushing but not so much in terms of different shades and highlights. That will change.

Lastly: Black Orcs have arrived and will start to be assembled. I have the front rank done so far:

Parts on the way for my count as army standard, Death Rocket to finish and Taurus and rider, still plenty more to go.
Considering the "armed to da teef" rule I mixed it up. That being said I used a lot of the 2 handed weapon models.
I actually have a color scheme in mind for them, different from the army too. In my army they are mercenaries; attracted to promises of vast riches in the employ of the CDs. What is gold to a Chaos dwarf, when you have that much why not spread it around and gain some formidable fighters to your cause?

Core has been added more recently because it is taking me longer to convert them. The great axe unit for instance was started in September.
The Black Orc standard is what I strongly considered for quite some time for GHV. It was the reason I added the unit.
As far as GHV you'll have to guess from amongst the awe inspiring entries (I'm sure).
Canix- heh unfortunately no. I typically paint/work on the army 4-5 days a week. I used to play a ton of video games at night but realized something. At the end of the night of playing video games, what do you have to show for it?
Now with warmer weather I most likely will lessen the pace. Plus with more Core choices nearing a finished state I can actually start playing. Plus it will soon be time to get outside and do chores, mow the lawn, walk the dog, etc...
On top of all of this I have a vacation coming up in 10 days.
EDIT: What do you get when you mix together the following?
- 2 Anvil Guardians from the Wheeled Anvil of Doom
- 2 classic throne of power bearers
- 1 already sculpted chaos dwarf sorcerer
- and some miscellaneous parts.
I don't know either but i do know they are all going to be part of my "count as" army standard. I have some ideas, but nothing definite. i got a late start so I couldn't get much more doen other then priming my black orcs and my 2nd chaos dwarf unit with the great axes.
So stay tuned, lots of items in play in this army and blog.
Thanks AGPO. If I can pull it off the sorceror is going to look awesome.
Two units to share, one complete and one on the way.
First off the 1st hobgoblin archer unit; more or less done except for a few touch ups I noticed after shooting with the camera. This was the unit I was going to work on before the poll(maybe the warriors too but see below).
Don't know why but I had fun with these guys and they were very fun to paint.

Next up are the next warrior unit. They are coming along. As you can see I have started to add parts for the "count as army standard". I will be transforming these anvil guards into army banner guards with robes over armor perhaps. The bearers (of which I will be using two) are undergoing paint removal which is proving to be trickier this time around...
Thsi unit is part of my ongoing effort to bolster my core choices, but taking a long time due to the sheer amount of effort required in converting.

I hear you, but will be tough to do with a 5 wide frontage... If they were 6 wide it would work just like my general...
.Still churning them out at a great rate
Thanks Dude, still have to get to my Taurus as well that I got from somewhere
. Thou I will be on vacation (holiday) till April 21st so I won't be updating till at least then.
Thanks. Wait to you see what I do with the metal guards, guarding the count as army standard...

And the white metal Anvil Guards as basis for your banner guards - that could be a cool - but also a tough - conversion! Hope we'll see them soon

Btw: Nice avatar - and congrats with the new title
Heh. We will see. The prices of hobbos on vultureBay have gone through the roof! So hobgoblin infantry will definitely be converted figures. Archers are popping up usually in groups of ten going for ~$50.00 US... :/
Thanks, being a mod has been fun.
