GH #13 - Voting Thread - Grimstonefire - 11-01-2010 03:58 PM

Please submit 3 numbers as votes by sending a PM to Golden Hat. We had 22 entries this time, which means 22 slaves will be heading your way, if you entered.

I have to say that I am particularly impressed with the inventiveness of you all this time.  The Staff thought the subject matter would be a real challenge, as at face value it appears quite restrictive.  But you all rose up to meet the challenge very well.

There's me thinking doing a steam horn would be original...!? Tongue Wink

Another thing worth mentioning is that about 1/3 of the entries are from people who have not entered a GH before (as far as I know), so as an inclusive subject matter this one worked very well I think.

How to vote
PM Golden Hat with the three numbers of the entries you like best!

And remember!

Rules Wrote:
Additionally, when you cast votes you must vote for your 3 favorite entries.  Each (more or less) anonymous entry below is numbered ranging from 1 to 22. After one week, we will post the results. All staff will have access to the votes if you have a problem with the voting or have questions as to how to vote, likewise, contact one of us.

There is no need to specify which one you think is 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Simply list the three that you like we will do the rest.

Voting will close 9th November 11:59pm EST

There's a few in there that I had to look at carefully to work out what the instrument was meant to be. Some downright funny ones. A very high standard all the way through, I can normally pick the top two easily, but this time I struggle to get it down to 5.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - tjub - 11-01-2010 04:24 PM

Wow, got some favourites but it sure will take some time to consider them all... Creds to the staff for getting the voting up so quick! Happy

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - nitroglysarine - 11-01-2010 04:25 PM

Wow, now there is both competition, and some REALLY cool ideas.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - clam - 11-01-2010 04:27 PM

Wow! - now that's what I call creativity - awesome job by everyone. It'll take me quite some time to pick my 3 favourites - thats for sure.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Golder Goldeater - 11-01-2010 04:40 PM

I have to admit that there are some very nice entries out here.I came up with the 3 top ones but it will definitely be a rough match Mad Hashut!

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Ishkur Cinderhat - 11-01-2010 07:15 PM

Wow that was really quick, kudos to the staff for working through the weekend on this! Takes Hat off

It my initial idea with a mechanical bagpipe (which I didn't execute in the end because I could not decide on an instrument design) was actually what quite a few people came up with. Funny to see that many people seem to feel that this concept fits the Chaos Dwarfs so well. ^^

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - dncswlf - 11-01-2010 08:11 PM

Wait, we can only vote for three.. um, holy.. I have it narrowed down t o10 at least.. wow!  some really amazing and creative entries... I am in awe!!!  The talent exhibited here is just top notch!  Kudos to all who entered for putting it out there.. wish I had dedicated some time toward this, as I am in sore need of a musician or two...  ha!

Hahaha I've had a lot of fun just trying to figure out whose is who!  As a first timer I'm not as familiar with everyone else's style...but even I can figure a few out.

I'm sure mine is one of the hardest to pick out....its so cleverly disguised...Cheers!

Cheers,

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - JavlinVII - 11-02-2010 01:10 AM

Glad to see there were so many entries, I'm just glad to get slaves!

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Tarrakk Blackhand - 11-02-2010 01:13 AM

Well hopefully mine looks "Alright" to you guys...Not too heavy on the base or instrument...if you can guess which one's mine, that is.

Is it me, or does #7 look like he's wearing a modified Ghostbuster Back Pack? (And mine's not #7, by the way.)

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Grimstonefire - 11-02-2010 06:09 PM

Just a reminder to those who voted already, those votes will not count so you will need to vote again.  I can look up what you voted last time if you're fussed, but perhaps it may be better to take another look at all of them... All things considered. Wink

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Ogrob - 11-02-2010 06:28 PM

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - nitroglysarine - 11-06-2010 06:06 AM

Cheers, damn it i think i need my prescription changed.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Grimstonefire - 11-07-2010 01:09 PM

I've done a quick count of the votes so far...  It is extremely close.  There are 4 votes separating the top 3, with the 4th place a couple of votes behind that.

So we really need as many people as possible to vote now. Wink  We normally get around 60 people voting and we're at 41 so far with 2 and a bit days to go, so pretty much on target.

I'll  have to recount this all again after it closes just to make sure.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Nicodemus - 11-08-2010 12:16 PM

Sounds close... would be great to know the number of votes for the top four if they're still close by the end... might help encourage the person in 4th place Wink

I just want the results announced so that I can get my blog updated with the WIP Wink

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Vash - 11-08-2010 05:12 PM

ahh... now i want to know even more what the end result is Happy

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Abecedar - 11-09-2010 01:20 AM

Is it 11:59 EST yet.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - GRNDL - 11-09-2010 02:02 AM

Nope, still 23 hrs left, thereabouts.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - clam - 11-09-2010 06:01 AM

Could be 11.59 am - couldn't it?? Tongue

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Grimstonefire - 11-09-2010 06:42 AM

Not any more. Wink

Had another look at the votes so far.  It's looking like a tie for both 1st and 3rd places, but obviously we have the best part of a day left to sort them out a bit.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Blue in VT - 11-09-2010 08:38 AM

EDT/EST is 5 hours behind (-05 GMT).

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Abecedar - 11-09-2010 06:15 PM

I'm sooo lost.   Grim is in England?  So GMT means Grimstonefire Meridian Time in England then -5 hours would be either the middle of the atlantic ocean or somewhere past Berlin?

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - Thommy H - 11-09-2010 06:21 PM

GMT is Greenwich Mean Time: i.e. the time currently in the UK and Ireland.

EST is Eastern Standard Time: i.e. the time currently on the East Coast of North America.

EST is five hours behind GMT. Most of the members of this site live in the EST time-zone, so we tend to use that for times and dates. It really is not that complicated.

Seems like it shouldn't be Wink  I live in a province that doesn't follow daylight savings time however, so when I look up people's time zones I also have to think about what time of year it is and then google where they are to see if they're on daylight savings too... poor Hashut's Blessing can tell you stories of my lateness for podcasts Wink

Down here we have EST too.  I once lived a bit outback (northwest of new south wales) and we only had 3 TV channels and if it was daylight savings in NSW we had 3 channels from 3 different time zones

Well, try this then - http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc - or maybe just this http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ Tongue

Not so sure about most members, though - but lets face it it's Xander's place - so quite obvious that his time zone is used for standard.

Oh, and if it's a tie - may I suggest that we just award both entries with the gold - instead of that stupid 'second round'?

clam Wrote:

I think this is not a bad idea at all. Keeps the results timely and does indeed reward those entries which the first round of voting (which for anything like this always has the best turn out/participation) who garnered a spot at the podium. Let's face it, in the extreme case, if there were ties for both Gold and Bronze, re-voting for the finalists could bump the original bronze entries off the podium.... it's not the olympics so it doesn't need to be too harsh.

That being said, it's not my BBQ and ultimately what ever the CDO staff decide they want to do is fine... just my (and Clam's) 2-cents I guess.

Actually, I think if it were the would award both with a gold and bronze medal. If there was a prize involved it's a different story. But yes, not something i feel strong about - just don't want to see this run for another week. We have better things to do - than finding a exact winner.

RE: GH #13 - Voting Thread - nitroglysarine - 11-10-2010 05:13 AM

As noted Xander lives in the EST, so we use this for contests as a basis.
