The Eight Commandments Ritual of Karzh Akkadur

And Karzh Akkadur the Builder spoke, and the people listened: The Father of Darkness alone knows the true order of things. Thus sacred prophesies alone may grant us a glimpse of the inner nature of all existence. The blacksmith must know the lores of metal, the slaver the lores of oppression, the devotee the lores of ritual.

The servants of Hashut are to be taught these Eight Commandments in gatherings of thirteen and eighty Chaos Dwarfs, neither more nor less. Slaves of any kind who are not to be used for the ritual are prohibited. Heed the fate of Clan Rakezh the Trampled. Keep His sacred fires burning at all times, and keep His teachings pure and true.

Thus we initiate the Ritual of Eight Commandments.

Bow!

I. Praise the Name of Hashut: Never cease in your adulation of Father Hashut and His mighty idols. Heed the fate of Zharak the Mute. Praise Lord Hashut thrice upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of withering dust be upon you and all of your kin.

Crushing strength to Hashut!
Endless wealth to Hashut!
Eternal power to Hashut!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

II. Pay Tribute to Hashut: Never cease in your payment of tithe to Father Hashut and His chosen acolytes. Heed the fate of Kalbur the Mean. Pay tribute to Lord Hashut once upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of burning gold be upon you and all of your kin.

O Hashut in thy power!
Gold from mold and zeal from heel, judge Your due of our steel.
All for Hashut!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

III. Sacrifice to Hashut: Never cease in your offering of blood to Father Hashut and His fiery altars. Heed the fate of Ghokruz the Empty-Handed. Sacrifice a slave to Lord Hashut once upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of scalding blood be upon you and all of your kin.

O Father of Darkness, who when on high tramples the weak and shackles the Daemon, may You accept the lifeblood of this sacrifice which we now slay upon Your altar!
Rejoice, drink of its slave blood and feast on its slave flesh!
May Your fire and smoke be content to offer naught but true omens!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

IV. Prove Might to Hashut: Never cease in your domination of others in the name of Father Hashut and His strong chains. Heed the fate of Izhkra the Meek. Whip the backs of two slaves raw to the bone for Lord Hashut upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of melting flesh be upon you and all of your kin.

Soul falls or head falls!
Mind cracks or skull cracks!
Will breaks or spine breaks!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

V. Prove Cruelty to Hashut: Never cease in your cruelty toward others in the name of Father Hashut and His sharp blades. Heed the fate of Hurbakipal the Weak. Gouge the eyes and break the bones and flay the skin of one slave for Lord Hashut upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of shattering stone be upon you and all of your kin.

Your spirit in our arms!
In cruelty lies strength!
All for Hashut!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

VI. Consume Life for Hashut: Never cease in your power to eat the flesh of others in the name of Father Hashut and His blessed spawnings. Heed the Fate of Mukeragoth the Impure. Roast one slave alive and eat its flesh for Lord Hashut upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of hollow guts and grinding maws be upon you and all of your kin.

Your fires devour!
We eat this flesh and gnaw these bones in the image of Your spawn and in sight of Your idol!
All for Hashut!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

VII. Consume World for Hashut: Never cease in your industrious plunder of the world and its riches in the name of Father Hashut and His powerful lightning strikes. Heed the fate of Zorth the Idle. Powder rock and ashes in slave blood and drink once for Lord Hashut upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of hungry chasms be upon you and all of your kin.

Your thunder shatters!
Lo and behold, for we will make the whole world Your clay!
All for Hashut!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

Bow!

VIII. Prove Service to Chaos for Hashut: Never cease in your service to Chaos in the name of Father Hashut and His divine sorcery. Heed the fate of Asturruk the Fool. Bind and forge one Daemon into plate and one Daemon into blade to be traded in the far north upon learning of each Commandment, lest a curse of torn limbs be upon you and all of your kin.

Your prison in bloodied metal!
Broken Daemon in Your prison!
From Chaos came, to Chaos return!

Only thus may His servants know all Eight Commandments and live.

All for Hashut!

* The differing interpretations of the script's instructions (particularly regarding the numbers of ritual duties and participants) have led to sectarian schisms throughout the millennia, including some conflicts of opinion over the numerological translations and interpretations of the ritual text and other readings of inner meaning. The original text can still be found, carved in obsidian stone, deep beneath the Temple of Hashut in the holy stables of the Lamassus. Note the religious obligation of producing Daemonforged Chaos armour and weaponry for the Marauder tribes in the north. A case of turning necessity into a virtue?

Wonderful fluff! I've read this three times in a row, each time picking up on some subtle, yet clever, nuances in the commandments.
And the added bit at the end of "turning necessity into a virtue" is wonderful...at the very least it explains the status of Hobgoblins within Dawi Zharr society.
No doubt the Dawi Zharr are full of contempt filled loathing for the Hobbo's...but the reality is they need them for the "necessity" of maintaining order (virtue) among the ranks of slaves.
