IT’S HERE! The Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book
IT’S HERE! The Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book
Below you will find the link to the new Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army
Book, a complete, 96-page Army Book in the Games Workshop tradition.
The book—professionally written, designed, illustrated, and thoroughly
play tested—will be legal for use in participating Independent Grand
Tournaments. As of this writing, the Crossroads, Conflict, Colonial,
Destruction Derby, NEWCC, and War Camp GTs will allow the book as
legal, and we expect the number to grow with the publication of the
book.
About the authors
Written by Kevin Coleman. Kevin has been writing background and rules
for Warhammer for well over a decade with his work appearing in White
Dwarf Magazine, the Games Workshop Website and the Citadel Journal
including such articles as Gnoblars Hordes, the Dark Elf City Garrison
army list, Goblin Ecology, Mighty Champions and more. Kevin has also
worked as a games designer and writer for other games and magazines
including Fleer, Inc.’s customizable card game, Ophidian 2350.
Book design by award-winning graphic artist Matt Birdoff. Matt has
been a professional designer working in the entertainment industry for
over 15 years. His recent works include logos for DC Comics, sports
card designs for Topps, Inc., style guide design for Ringling Bros. &
Barnum and Bailey, The 39 Clues book and card series from Scholastic,
among others.
Additional background material and fiction by Justin Hill and Jarrett
Messing. Justin is the author of the Black Library novel Forged in
Battle (as Justin Hunter). His internationally acclaimed first novel,
The Drink and Dream Teahouse, won the 2003 Geoffrey Faber Memorial
Prize and a 2002 Betty Trask Award, and was banned by the government
in China. It was picked by the Washington Post as one of the Top
Novels of 2001. His second novel, Passing Under Heaven, won the 2005
Somerset Maugham Award and was shortlisted for the Encore Award.
Note that this book is not endorsed in any way by Games Workshop.

In the 1930s, the actor Sacha Guitry accumulated so many tin soldiers architects warned that, if he did not sell some, his house would subside beneath the weight. Undeterred, he bought a mansion in the country and moved his tin soldiers into it.

Just flicking through the painted models I think this book really draws attention to the magnificient achievements of our members here on CDO, which is of course exactly as it should be.

Baggranor, I really want to compliment you on the artwork that went into this book (you too Matt).
I too loved the "Look for these army books" list and look forward to the fimir and may even have to start playing 40K if you start playtesting Squats...

RE: IT’S HERE! The Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book
argh! on the snotling/ishkur mixup. Each person had reviewed and approved their spreads (I think they all did), so I thought I'd covered it all. Sorry about that. We will fix it when there is a version 1.1., which I expect once GW legal has it's way with the thing.
and - I gave multiple plugs for site! In the introduction, and the miniatures section!

thanks for the kind words, though.

RE: IT’S HERE! The Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book
Funnily enough, I credited some of Ishkur's figures to Snotling in one of my early drafts of my book. Their models are very different, but I think because they're both such hobby gurus around here (and we're used to seeing Snotling's figures even though Ishkur is more active) they sometimes get mixed up in the imagination.
Anyway, good job. It's always amusing to see the overlap in artwork - you used Baggranor's big picture of the whole Chaos Dwarf army with the Lord on the ledge almost exactly as I did so I got a weird "wait, isn't that my book?" deja vu thing when I saw it...
My Armies:
The Black Host of Lord Zhurduz (Chaos Dwarfs)
The Destroyer Cult (Warriors of Chaos)
Les Défenseurs du Béniterre (Bretonnians)
Force Belial (Dark Angels)

Looks awesome!
I'll have to spend more time reading it, but I just wish I was up to snuff with the model builders that were able to contribute to this "publication".
Kickin' Azz on 5 year oldz!
You could take on 29 five year old kids in a fight.
Don't play morons, and don't play at GW stores/events and you'll have no problem using your Chaos Dwarfs.

RE: IT’S HERE! The Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book
Awesome stuff! This is a really great achievement for the Chaos Dwarf community.
A couple things. Snotling's page has some of Ishkur's Big Hat models on it.
And The Chaos Dwarfs Online Community did not get a special thanks in the book! Awww. But there are some links to the showcase armies on the site, which was cool to see.
Maybe not directly. "Word of Hashut" is mentioned in the background section, which I found hilarious.

I'm very impressed guys - I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I think this is the best job I've seen yet of taking the spirit of the Ravening Hordes list, and fixing the issues with it. Case in point - the Blunderbuss and Earthshakers have the same feel, but in my opinion, with these rules, they seem more in line and balanced with the current GW rulesets.
Very good job...

Although I am not an expert i would expect so... Despite saying an its unofficial book, it looks an awful lot like a GW army book.
GW asked Podhammer to change its logo for it being made in the same font style as the Games Workshop logo.
The book looks great guys. Congrats on a job well done

RE: IT’S HERE! The Indy GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book
Well I have my original copy of the list. That's the important bit. Having done just Chaos Dwarfs (Ravening Hordes) and Nurgle Daemons, I have never had so much choice in one of my armies before!
