Koyote's Chaos Dwarveskoyote 11-05-2009

These models are samples from a Chaos Dwarf army that I painted in the late 90s.  These guys have been locked in a box for almost a decade now.

The techniques are rudimentary but clean -so please be kind.  The banners are hand painted.  The banner in the very last photo commemorates a combat between my Bull Centaurs and my buddy's Dark Elf Black Guard, where my Centaurs were surrounded and hopelessly outnumbered, but nonetheless drove off the Dark Elves and ran them down.  Ah-memories Happy

These are nice indeed - glad to see that you dug them out of their box and hopefully you'll be taking them back to the battlefield?

Great painting too, like you say nice and neat - I find myself really liking the green you used for the skulls. I don't suppose you remember the colours you used? I am leaning towards using greens and metalics on my own stuff, if I can figure out how to paint green properly, it seems like a tricky colour to me! Anyway, looking forward to some more things from your box

I used Armory paints.  You can achieve the same effect by starting with a dark green as a base and then adding highlights to the edges by adding bands of color made by mixing dark green with white.  The lighter (or higher) the highlight, the more white you add to the mix.  I believe I added only 2 levels of highlight to my Chaos Dwarves.

Oh.  I forgot to post a pic of this guy.  I never finished painting his ride, so instead he rides a Death-Cork of Hashut.  Wink

I could never get my reds that good with GW paints so I gave up on red and black hats. Some great little conversions in there and nice banners.

RE: Koyote's Chaos Dwarveskoyote 11-05-2009

One should note that my choice of colors was very much a product of its time.  Back in the mid to late 90s, most of the GW models were painted in fairly bright colors.  Even my CD's bases were painted to emulate the colors and technique used by GW and its Eavy Metal painters on their bases.

Funny how things change. Happy

That's some very nice, clean painting. Old school as they are, I like the style a lot.

Great stuff here. Yes painting is so nineties but much better than GW. You choose a classic color scheme but not so bright and shiny like GW.
Nuff say I love your bluebeards Wink

I'd like to see the rest of the army.

As you said, very neat and simple paint job.  Clean, crisp with just a hint of chocolate (or was that the stout from last night?).  Seriously, they are well painted and they deserve to be played with, those banners are well done.

It's really too bad Koyote decided to leave really. It seemed awfuly abrupt, I guess we won't be seeing any more of his army which is too bad too.
