Nitro's Empire Blog - Updatenitroglysarine 08-08-2010

Some other conversions i've made,

KNIGHTLY ORDERS:-

Panda Legion

-made from wood elf bits, dark elf spears, soldier arms and the new furry hats from the archers sprue.

Araby Crusaders

MAde from old wizards horses, normal bodies, pistoliers heads, upside down fur cloaks, and DE corsairs swords and shields.

Reiksguard

Normals horses, new great sword arms, lots of bitz on back of horse to look a bit like a questing knights.

KOTWW

Modified old chaos knights with very big wolfs head

Head Hunters (need a better name)

Made from normal legs, recovered bodies from brentionians, arms modified from chaos lance, shield boss from dark elfs

STEAM TANK
-~ 'Behemoth' ~-

IT was made from the old, old steam tank, part of a old predator annihilator, a bit of pipe, random bits and two knex wheels for the back wheels.

Thoughts, ideas? - the tank is about a length and a half of a normal steam tank. No special rules as such.

That is a huge tank! Shock Takes Hat off

Why so many empire cavalry regiments?  So many horses, you might as well play bretonnians. Wink

I really like the greatsword ones.  The araby ones are blurry, but I like those quite a lot as well.

i think my camera hates me, it seems to have a hit rate of about 10%, so i have to go snap, snap, snap etc... to get one useable image.

I like cavalry, and I bought a bulk old army off ebay for £120 about 3 years ago and got about £1500 worth of stuff, and it contained amongst a whole lot more, about 60 knights, I thought i'd convert a few bits :-p

what type of camera do you use? i always use a mobile phone to take pictures (yeah, sounds weird maybe, but Nokia NSeries phones got killer camera's).
you really need to find the macro function, it helps the camera focus on small close up objects. lots of light (i prefer natural sunlight but some use special light boxes) also help.

i do like all the different types of cavalry, despite some blurry images they all look pretty cool. the steam tank is a work of art, really nice. are you building a fast, cavalry driven empire army or just loose projects?

RE: Empire Knightly Orders and Big Steam Tanknitroglysarine 08-08-2010

to be honest, its original idea was a 'Albion Enhabitation Force' a throw back to the 2003 summer WFB campaign where there was a fight for the new misty island of Albion.

So mixed units and lots of militia was the idea - i have 175 militia models and counting.

and ontop of that:-

all the characters inc a custom built KArl Franz on a high elf dragon
8 mages for each colledge on foot
4 mages on horses - and a plan for the last 4
80 great swords
60 swordsman
60 haldbadeirs
60 spearmen
80 handgunners
60 crossbowman
30 undead dogs of war unit - custom
6 units of knights inc Winged lancers
3 steam tanks
2 war alters (both made from bits, one from the old warwagon)
80 flagelants

and some more that escapes me

That is one epic steam tank i really like it, its really works, when you look at tanks in the real world and how they progressed from the first ones to the later ww1 tanks they just got bigger and bigger and added more guns just like this one, same basic design just bigger with more fire power Happy

That tank looks like a true Behemoth. How large is it? And how much does the model weigh? Would love to see the look on your opponents face when he encouters it! Big Grin

It weighs about twice the weight of the old metal steam tank, and its about half as long again. Never used it in a game, in fact i've not had a game since 2003. (I know i'm well out of practice, and have in fact managed to never have a game in the 7th ed.)

Kids & Uni, damn they take time off your hands.

RE: Nitro's Empire Blog - Updatenitroglysarine 01-15-2011

New images:-

Qucik update
I've added 5 birdmen to the army, upgraded the old crossbows to the newer ones, i think it works.
The militia are now upto 175 men and the flagellants are upto 75. - The army is based on an Albion inhabitation force, linking to the old 2003 Albion campaign.
The painting is still all about 50% done, I really need to get some flesh on them!
And i'm rather proud of my war wagon conversion into a flagenallent pulled wat alter that HAS an alter!!

Any opinions advice??

There are a pile of handgunners waiting to be done, but my cat keeps breaking the darn things by knocking them off the shelf, so they sit in a box.

Great stuff, you're really going to town on the painting!!  That's an intimidating number of models to have on the go!! Do you speed paint or anything like that?

RE: Nitro's Empire Blog - Updatenitroglysarine 01-16-2011

Speed paint nope, Just the ongoing tedious method of getting 25 models, one pot, doing all of one colour.
dry, change colour, repeat until finished or will to live ends ;p
The one thing this blog has made me realise is that i'm missing two units of Knights.....damn house move.
