RE: The Slaughterers (my new blog)Grimstonefire 10-13-2018
So as discussed elsewhere I'm going to be rebasing my entire CD army onto round bases.
There will (eventually) be revised fluff to match, to bring my army into AoS.
For now I'll show this musician guy, but I have 9 more of the second blunderbuss unit (with axes on their backs) to go with the guy above.
This musician I actually forget which unit he's supposed to be for, so I will need to consider that for painting.

I actually think with these models having visually a lot of bulk in the lower half, they look really cool on round bases. 20mm square is just a very different feel for the same model.

Cheers! Thanks think the white heads really makes them stand out against the black armour.
Eventually, when I get a super fine brush, I'm going to paint some runes on the red strips on their shoulders.
Guess these guys have an axe to grind...

They do look great Grim', dark and industrious and the white heads do stand out as you say
I really like the axe conversions on their backs and those runes will really finish off the Red stripe
Amazing stuff Grim

Those gun-dwarves look positively scary! Likely to intimidate any enemy on sight
Cheers! I've taken a small break from painting these guys, and doing my rebasing efforts, whilst I'm working on something truly huge!
Not the most ambitious project I've ever done (which still has to be Kugath and all those blasted nurglings). But probably the second most...
I'm sculpting a large scale model of the Emperor. As it's my all time favourite piece of art (emperor V horus). Many years ago I did attempt to sculpt/convert a 40k scale model. That was damn tricky and I wasn't happy with the result so abandoned half way through.
This guy is just a beast and will probably have used near 2m of greenstuff by the end! He's about 18cm to the top of his head.
The best bit though is that one day, preferably within the next 3-4 months, he will be cast and sold in a very small limited batch. Complete with a scenic base.
I'd say I'm probably about 50% done on him so far, all the component pieces of armour are in place, I've started detailing some and am pretty happy with the proportions of everything so far (after a hell of a lot of work). The cloak is going to take an insane amount of work to get it to the point I'm happy though.
Then finally I need to go over every square millimetre of the model with a super sharp fresh blade and sort out anything I'm remotely unhappy with.
The base will be relatively simple. I've built most of it just need to reinforce and detail some parts. Tried to keep it hollow to cut down the resin.
Need to design a suitable horus heresy style Sons of Horus helmet based off that art work though, as a bit of detail on the stairs.

RE: The Slaughterers (my new blog)Grimstonefire 12-17-2020
As a point of principle I wanted to put an update in here, as I have actually been extremely productive this year (for me) hobby wise in 2020.
This year I have painted:
25 stormvermin
20 skaven slaves
Orc boss
Dark elves cauldron of blood
8 dwarf hammerers
3 chaos nurgle chosen
3 nmm blood angels
Bull centaur
25 chaos dwarfs
Most of a hellbound iron daemon
Plus probably double the above in WIP.
And I rebased (again) my entire chaos dwarf army.
My total army is larger than this, probably another 20 chaos dwarfs or so I will consider part of my "actual" army (not based so not in the photo).
Another 20 "Oddboyz", being random models that could form a unit I guess, but I'll never include.
Plus 10-15 black orcs, which I'm undecided whether to rebate and finish assembling.
All other models from this blog that are not listed above or in the video will never be finished for this army.
